hi everybody, i am a new guy on this forum and am needing some advice. my passenger side window is really loose, i can hear it rattling all the time. it is also prone to stop while going up or down and i sometimes have to give it a tug to keep going. i am thinking that the bolts are loose and is there a fairly easy way to fix this? this is my second vette (first my 84, now my 93 coupe), i love them, can detail and clean them but am not very good at fixing them. is there a step by step procedure to tightening these bolts? i also need to fasten my door panel better so i will do both at the same time. this is a great site and thanks for any advice you mi;helpght give me.

my guess is the front guide /stop is broken it could have regulator issues but check the front stop first Steve

thank you steve for your help. i am going to take the door panel off this weekend and refer to some diagrams i found on this "front guide/stop" piece to see if it is broken. is there a certain position that the window must be in to access the loose bolts to tighten them? can a person remove the thin metal doorskin to see the whole window and motor making it easier to work on? i love everything i do to make my vette better and even though i am not too mechanically inclined i will never give up! i know i have to learn everything i can to keep this vette in great shape. is there a section on this topic that i can do a search on?:cool

when you get the panel off you will see the holes that are exposed for tightening the glass bolts the guide is at the very front not sure how available that piece is these days but have replaced quite a few over the years you will need a good flashlight to look around Steve

steve, what does this guide look like? when you say "located in the front", where is that exactly? sorry to sound kinda lame but this is still a new area for me! thanks again!

THANKS A MILLION! you guys are incredible, easy to talk to and share everything you know with anybody who needs help. i want to be good at fixing my vette (things i can do anyway) and all you folks make me very comfortable trying to do these things. when i bought this vette the guy had rolled it, replaced and painted the damaged body parts but the other things still happen like loose windows, door panels, cracked removable top, needs weatherstripping replaced, seats cracked but ok, things like that. but it runs REALLY GOOD, i detailed the engine and interior (it had a quarter inch dirt with leaves, and debris all over the engine compartment). no cracked glass anywhere but scratched side windows from going up and down. he also had a quick paint job done and painted over the original polo green color with red and there a bubbles here and there that are splitting(even painted over the emblems!). but overall it looks pretty darn good. so i will be back with alot more questions as i go along. thanks again, you guys are amazing!
