2003 50th Annversary Red coupe, beautiful !
The local auto parts store has windshield wipers on sale, Anco Aveo- buy one/get one free. But you have to send in a rebate? But would you replace the entire wiper blade assembly or just the refills? they are 22" X 9mm and I assume they are the standard not the skinny type? What do you think?

I refuse to replace the blade on my cars. Most mfgs now seem to be pushing the consumer to change the whole blade by only offering the entire unit. My reasoning? The next time I have to replace the wiper will I be able to find just rubber part or will I have to spend the extra $ to replace the whole blade again?? I have also never found another blade that is any improvement over the OEM. Why spend the extra $ and be locked into that company's wipers.

Sorry for the rant but this is a sore spot with me. I replace the wipers on all my cars every 12 months if needed or not and last year it was a pain because no one sold refills. :mad

C5y2K,
I agree with you a 100%. The metal part of my wipers are perfect, why do I have to replace the whole unit. I'm going to hunt around for refills instead ! thanks for you input ;)

I've replaced my wiper blades 3 times in the 5 years that I owned it!!(First 2 years she was a Garage Queen with less than 7,000 miles!!):D:D:D But Now she is my Economy car with the gas prices the way they are!!I get Anco Refills!! Never had a problem getting them at the local Parts Plus store!!:thumb

I've replaced mine with PIAA Super Sport Silicone with the spoiler. Seen here.

My son bought me the one with the carbon fiber finish. They lasted two years but the finish started to peel, so I replaced them with the black finish. The blades were still good and I have them set aside in case I need a replacement blade.

I can't recommend theses blades highly enough. They stay planted at 150mph (on a track - rainy as HELL) and the blades will last several years, even with Missouri winters (daily driver).

My .02.

Well I'll tell you fellas, I beat! I've been to pepboys, autozone and four auto parts stores and all they sell is the whole bale assembly. Called the local chevy dealership part room, and all they have is the whole assembly. The closest I got was at pepboys and they have a refill by a company called 'Rally' they have a 22" 560mm standard which looks somewhat like the original but it's different in the blade configuration, and it won't fit! I guess this another chapter of corvette ownership I have to have a cool drink and think it over. I'd have a beer, but I'm an ex-alcholic, so it'll have to be coffe or ice tea.

Hay Junkman, I had one other qusetion, how do you get the old blade out? I tried to do the crimping of the blade so the locking tabs will pass the two locking teeth, but I don't seem to be able to crimp it enough to pass through? Any ideas are welcome ! Thanks.

You just cut the rubber blade loose at the metal strip that its in and then pull the rubber thats left out!! Then you can squeeze the metal part out!! The refills will slide right in there place and clip!!:thumb PS Some have a small tang at each end that you may have to clip off with a pair of dikes!!:thumb

Thanks Junkman, I see just what your talking about. I also found the Anco N-22r refills, and the guy at my local auto parts store wasn't sure if they had anymore anco wiper refills, but he checked and they had some at the warehouse. He asked if I wanted one set, OR since they getting scarce, if I didn't want two sets. I said sure. Their like $5.75 a set. Thanks again for your help.

We may not have any choice soon. My local auto part store told me that refills are getting harder to find on the market to sell?

Use Rain-X and you can throw the blades away. I don't need to use my wipers even up here in the Pacific Northwest.

It's funny that you posted that. I just bought new wiper refills, and I treated the glass with Rain-X last weekend ! Thanks for the heads up ;)

Rain-X works. I can't help but get a kick as I am cruzin down the freeway in the rain and not needing to turn on my wipers, unless it is just drizzling. All the while everyone else's are on high. Sorry for being so wierd:cool
