Bose 12 Disc CD Changer

I have a Bose 12 Disc CD Changer in my 2002 Corvette Convertible and the magazine is stuck. It will not play nor eject. It just started doing this today and I have let it set for several hours, same result. Anyone know how to get the magazine out of the changer?

HI there,
Disconnect the plug from the rear of the changer for about a minute.
Reconnect and see if it will eject.

Thanks c4c5specialist: I tried your suggestion, but it did not help so I removed the changer from the car. The first thing I noticed is that it is not a Bose, but a Pioneer.:W I removed the covers from the unit and see that there are two discs out of the magazine at the same time. All attempts to get the disks back where they belong failed.:confused I will send it out to have it repaired. I also went on e-bay and purchased a newer model from a wrecked vette for $75.00. Hopefully it will be good.

These CD changers are notorious for "locking up". The fix is a re-build. A number of shops will do this for about $100, but you send it out to them. Mine took about a week and has been fine ever since.

Hope you don't get screwed with a bad changer on E-bay. $75 is way too cheap for a used one IN WORKING ORDER.

This is the first problem I have had with the changer, except that over the past months it started skipping pretty regularly. Do you have the address where I can send mine to be rebuilt? Yes, the cd changer from e-bay is cheap, but I submitted my best offer for it and it was accepted. It is from a wrecked car, so condition is unknown. I may get lucky, but you never know. I'll let the site know, either way.

Had mine re-built in 2004 by Doctor Don's in Huntsville, TX. The number I have is 936-435-1811. They did a fine job. Hopefully they are still in business.

Thanks, I will see if I can get him, if not, there was a place in Lufkin that did some work on a DVD recorder for me a couple of years ago, he is good at what he does too.

It happened to me too, i have a 2001, the 12 disc changer is also a Pioneer.
What i did to fix it was:
1.unscrew the CD changer set from the changer holder (6 screws) note: need small hands for the one side though (my model)
2. put the system on its side, CD holder side (you do not have to disconnect the cable ,it should be long enough).
the cd will fall back in place when cd changer is activated. the inside parts will start moving and gravity will drop the stuck cd back in its holder, after that the CD changer holder will be able to eject again.
3. attach the CD changer set to the panel again........... 10 minute job
Have not got stuck on me again (touch wood)

Doctor Don's came through

Based on a previous post in this thread, I sent my CD changer to Doctor Don's in Huntsville TX. It was returned quickly and I just received it a couple of days ago. Works like new again.
According to Doctor Don ( www.doctordons.com ):
"Restoration for Your Multi Disc Changer is $175.00 plus $20.00 shipping.
The Clamper Assembly is responsible for keeping the disc in the tray as it transfers from tray to disc. If the Clamper is worn it will stick causing the disc to slide out of the tray. When tray is reloaded to magazine, the disc is pushed out falling below the spindle motor allowing the unit to pull another tray. once loaded, the two discs jam the unit usually causing gear damage and jumping time.
24 to 48Hr Turnaround
One Year Warranty"

This was exactly the problem with my unit. I was only able to retrieve the disks from the tray by (careful!!) disassembly of the unit here at home before shipping it out. If not comfortable with this process, I suggest leaving the CD's and tray in before shipping out for repair.

One more thing.

I too used Dr. Don for repair to my CD changer and all is well, he did a great job.

However, I noticed that when I was on the way out to town on my gravel road I had minor jams at two different times. I was able to correct both of these jams by ejecting the CD magazine. Both times a CD had been jarred out of its holder.

From then on I wait until I'm on the smooth hard top road then turn on the CD player. I figured it was too much rough road causing mechanical shock to the CD magazine even though I only do 10-15 mph on the gravel. No problem since.
