Is anything missing on this instrument? Between the 10 pin stick and the large blanck square on the Digital LCD sqreen? The digital instrument wasn't working, so i cleaned it. It still don't work though. It was working a couple of weeeks ago, but water intrusion made it worse. And one day it simple didn't work. Now i check the instrument one second time and notice there might be something missing. Or is it?

How and where did you get water in it?
Were all functions working on the instrument (before)?
Checked fuses?
Are interior lights working (and in the stereo if original) as they should?
Battery checked?

Obvious questions but often overseen.

The instrument was working fine in the beginning, but the digital one started to flash soon after i got the car. Only a part of the digital instrument was working for a while when i had the vette outside. I have the vette parked outside the garage were i work. After working hour i drive the vette inside the garage for safekeeping and repair. Once inside the digital instrument usualy got better after a while in warmer temperature. It went blank once, but a few days later it came back. After 2 weeks it went blank again. And stayed that way ever since. I took of the cluster panel and repaired som bad contact on the stick to the panel and the stick to the digital bit. But it still doesn't work. The vette has a cracked window. It has been since 96. Don't think the water get's pass the crack, but there are a small water leak between the sidewindow gasket on either side. There are a lot of rust in the coupe :eyerole inside the dashboard. I don't think there are something missing on the instrument, but perhaps i should measure the ground to the instrument. Anyone know's witch wire that leads to ground and what value i should read on the different pins on the digital stick? I've just ordered a service manual book. Until that arrive, i'm shooting in the blind :confused

Best thing now is to go through all the grounds and clean them.
You can start with the multiple wire junction behind the battery.
One 10 mm under the gill panel (kind of hidden between the lower side panel and the gill panel), one 13(?) mm on top of it and three or four torx 25-30 screws behind the wheel.
There are grounds in the coupe as well, but I don´t know where they are since I haven´t had such problems yet.
Sure someone can come up with some info here.

I've checked out some ground wires below the batteri and on the engine. I'll see if i find some more. I also ohm the wires going to the digital instrument, one of them was 0,2ohm and there was one other, that were 134ohm or something. Not sure if that last one is correct, i have to wait and see, until i get my service manual book. A friend of mine, said it could be the digital instrument that was broken, being a electrician. I'll check the wire's first, if they are ok. Then i'll send the instrument panel for service. Saw Eckler's did it for a reasonable price.
