my 92 is begining it's 3rd week in the shop looking for the short that turns on the interior lites and drains the battery.
chasing down a short is one of those very time consuming things that i dont have the patience to deal with...
are all corvettes like harleys.??
they each have their own personality and require a "bonding" period while they get used to you..
mine has decided to punish me for unknown reasons...after all..i did rescure it ...
if you speak corvette and can interprete this unspoken message my car is trying to send me please reply here...

Interior lights coming on and killing the battery - sounds like a problem with the door closed switch or the 'plunger' on the switch.

A few years back, I had a similar issue on my old '92 - interior lights one, alarm activating and battery dead - turned out to be the passenger door light switch.

thanx...i said that.also.a couple weeks ago ..
all switches are tested and/or replaced..including the dimmer (200 bucks worth) to no avail..

Not to beat a dead horse here, but I didn't see the other post so I'm not sure what you've gone through already but... you do understand what Tuna is telling you correctly right? The door switch can be working perfectly but if the plunger in the center of the door switch isn't staying out solid enough it could do what it sounds like you're describing. Mine gave me that problem and I shimmed the plunger out with a couple of tiny o-rings.

If misery loves company makes you feel any better though, I've been chasing an intermittant (sp?) nonstarting/hard to start problem with my 92 for what seems like a couple of months now.

yes . i understand and, in the begging , just pulling out the center of the switch temporarely solved the prob...but i suspect that the constant incorrect signal eventually burned a diode or a connection or something ..possibly in the timer department...
the door switches have been replaced and or tested...thanx

Hummmm,What brainiac came up with that!!I told him about that adventure,and I'm not totally satisfied that isn't still his problem!!
Latches get worn,weather strips get less spongy allowing the door to bounce in just a little bit more than designed knocking the switch pin out of adjustment!!

Corvettes are living ,breathin' things that have feelings.They do not like to be cussed at nor do they like to have their tires kicked.Do not slam the hood or door in frustration ,this only makes the car more stubborn.Each Corvette has it's own personality .
