2003 50th Annversary Red coupe, beautiful !
Yesterday I was out running errands, and a black cadillac XLR-V pulls in front of me. So I was think, I didn't know that GM put the LS-9 in a Caddillac, but I was just looking at the Cadillac website and they say it's a 4.4 Northstar supercharged engine. Is this a good engine? I had a Cadilllac a few years ago with a Northstar engine which I thought was as smooth as silk. Don't think I like the XLR all that much, but it was a surprise to see a 'Superchaged' ?

You can learn more about it over at our sister site: 2008 2009 Cadillac XLR Net | Cadillac | XLR | XLR-V | Forums | Tech | Photos | Production

i got to drive an XLR-V at the cadillac driving lab back in november, the car is everything you expect out of a caddy, smooth as silk, luxurious and with the V fast as hell, i will admit it was always one of my dream cars but after driving one the way i got to if i had that kind of money id spend it on a ZR 1 instead. now the CTS V... thats a different story..... thats a sick car!

Both the XLR-V and the STS-V get a supercharged version of the Northstar. This is a real smooth engine. Horsepower is 440 and 469.

The CTS-V gets a version of the ZR-1 motor as mentioned and is supercharged also but with only 556 HP.

The CTS-V stickers in the mid 60's and is nearest to fitting into my pocket book.
My wife likes the looks of the STS better but 100K+ for an STS-V isn't in my line of site.
We have 2 Vettes in the garage so we're not even looking at the XLR-V as we don't need another 2-seater.

The best part about owning one is having a hardtop and convertible all in one:D:D You also don't see yourself passing one on the road everyday;)

Totally agree. The "V" is a great car, plenty fast, very beautiful and very scarce, only a little over 300 were produced since it's debut in 2006. I'm the very happy owner of an '06 and she looks very pretty sitting beside her cousin the '08 Z06.

wow if thats true they must not sell very well! no wonder they are dropping them

hell at the dealership my father got his CTS-V they had at least 6 of them sitting there and at the cadillac riving lab they had 12 that we saw and from what im told they had backup cars as well... doesnt seem like a lot but considering the low number they really let us beat the hell out of those $100,000 XLR-V's

My ex-boss had one. That was the only thing I liked about him- was his car.

He had a CTS-V- That car could run. No wonder he never gave anyone a pay raise.

The XLR-V (443HP) and the STS-V (469HP) have the same Northstar engine. The STS produces extra HP due to a wicked bend in the exhaust on the XLR-V.

The XLR-V came out in 2006 and there has been a little under/over 3K made. I have not seen the production numbers for 2009, but 3K is pretty close since 2006.

3000 makes a bit more sense, 300 must have been a typo in the previous post

sweet car by the way

you would have had a heart attack had you seen what i did with one of those at the monticello motor club........ cant honestly say how the hell i saved it from at least going around let alone ending up flipping through the infield:ugh

the guys behind me said it was awesome when we parked, wanted to hi five me and were cheering me on.... i just wanted to get as far away from it as i could in case one of the caddy guys saw me

Just saw the final production numbers for the 2009 XLR-V so I thought I would share all the years. The total is quite a bit south of the 3000 I thought it was.

2006 = 1147
2007 = 410
2008 = 392
2009 = 239

Total: 2188
