With 1 tire on the ground and car in neutral, how far should I be able to turn the tire off the ground?

I have gone threw 3 sets of u-joints and not cheap ones and 1 half shaft.
It all started w/driver side going out, I have replaced all 6 u-joints and am starting to think there is something else wrong.
And I have replaced both hubs, seperate problem but linked and I have about about a 1" - 1 1/2" rotation on the drivers side, wondering w/175k+ if the rearend might be causing this?

I have a 2300 stall converter that was put on about 4-5k miles before this all started when the tranny was rebuilt. Didn't find out that gem till long after the tranny was rebuilt.

With the positraction differential which your Vette has, you should not be able to move the wheel which is off the ground any distance.

With 175,000 miles, your rear end sounds like it could use a complete freshening up of the components inside.

Search for an excellent transmission/differential shop in your area. He should be able to disassemble your unit, replace all the worn out-of-spec parts and reassemble the complete unit.

AFTER HAVING YOUR DIFF REBUILT, BE SURE TO SAVE THE :w!

Dude, one wheelie peelies=Bad

I hate it when people in front wheel drive cars with open diffs do that all the time, I can hear those spider gears screaming for mercy a mile away.

.

Didn't know it was happening ; no weird noises. Only found out when guys at the track told me only one wheel as smoking up during burnouts ;squint:
Was still running 1.8X 60 ft times so thought all was well

Forgot to mention, the driveshaft turns also. But it stops after 1/3 - 1/2" and the halfshaft turns a little farther.

$950 + core charge

Corvette Products: Dana 36 Differential Assembly (1984-1996)

Has anyone rebuilt theirs?
And where can you get gears?
Don't want to pay $1000, if I can do it my self.
