Hi, my 98 coupe has recently lost alot of its braking power. The pedal is still there, but not the stopping power. I checked the brake fluid resevoir and its ok. I noticed however the sound of air being focred out of something when i press the brake pedal. Maybe the brake booster? These parts are not cheap so is there anyway to check for sure? Have any of you replaced it before on your vette? thanks for your help!

Does the idle change much when you depress the brake??
:confused

yes, it actually does slightly effect the idle when i'm on and off the pedal
They will slightly effect the idle,I was wondering if the idle went way down and then back up or the engine started missing with the brake depressed, that can be a indication of a bad booster!!Do you hear a hissing sound when holding the peddle down steady, that can also be a indication!

yes, i hear a hissing sound when i'm on the brake. so could there be a loose hose or something, or is it the booster leaking air?? can a booster be rebuilt or do i just need order a new one?
thanks!
