    power steering

I'm assuming you mean the flow control valve and the valve spring. Yes, if they're in backwards it'll cause problems. With the pump on the car, under the fitting in the pump, the spring goes in first, then the flow control valve, with the "nut" end first, towards the front on the car.

    Question: Powered/Amplified Subwoofer:

Thanks for the comments, I really appreciate them! The Sub box was built to the requirements of the Kicker subwoofer itself. It ended up being 4X10.5X24 inches. I made it out of 1/2 MDF and filled it with polyester fiber fill, fluffy stuff that helps make the bottom end tight. The T-tops do...

    Question: Powered/Amplified Subwoofer:

As you pointed out, there's limited room in our C3's for sound equipment. Room for a sub, amp and for that matter, modern larger magnet 6X9's can be a challenge too. Here's how I solved the issue, the amp is behind the passenger seat, and the sub box and speakers are removeable should I need to.

    Lock-up problem

Your right Peter, the 700 is wired differently than the 350, I wired 12v to a switch I mounted on the console so I could lock mine up when I wanted to. It's another option. I thought the Manifold pressure switch was part of the TCC, I'll have to go back and re-read that section in the manual!

    Lock-up problem

Yep, the 81 has a manifold pressure switch in the TCC circuit. It's on the fire wall on the drivers side, under a small bracket and has a small vacuum line going to it.

Help! Oil on exhaust manifold bolt & spark plug???

Hib, your not getting "The rest of the story" here. The OP posted this issue on another site (nothing wrong with that) and posted pics of the plugs. They were oil fowled pretty badly and wet too. He said all of them were like that. That's why my thought is that there might be a valve stem...

Help! Oil on exhaust manifold bolt & spark plug???

I saw this in another post with pics. You don't have head gasket problem, at a minimum you have valve seal issues. As I recall, all the plugs looked the same right? That being the case, it's either the valve stem seals or probably more likely, rings were installed upside down.

I'm pulling my hair out over the power steering rebuild job I did. Need help!

Air can be trapped in several places in the system and normal driving would have a hard time getting it out. Plus, as I described in my last post, it's possible that if it wasn't bled correctly, that the flow control valve is stuck in the pump. I'd start with bleeding and the flow contrl...

    Front suspension kit recomendations

GTR1999 and Hib are spot on. A vendor you can get those parts from is Van Steel. I've recieved very good parts and service from those guys!

I'm pulling my hair out over the power steering rebuild job I did. Need help!

Two things to try. First, raise the front wheels off the ground and with the engine off...turn the steering wheel lock to lock a couple dozen times. Check the fluid after the first couple to make sure it's full. Then put the car back on the ground and with the engine running do it again a few...

Disgusted With How My 81 Runs arrrggghhh!

Not necessrily, a bad wire (not broken) can short easily at slow/idle speeds, but when you increase speed it still hits the plug with enough energy to spark it. But if you're convinced they're good thats okay, one more thing off the list. Hopefully the Idle Air Bleed Valve adjustment will take...

Photos and Commentary on my 3-1/2 Year Restoration

Lars, Thanks for sharing, the car and the workmanship is fantastic. I saw your answer to my question on the suspension in the C2 section, thanks. As for the snow, I used to have a 81 as a daily driver when I lived in Denver, and as long as I kept the tank full, it did fine in the snow. That...

Disgusted With How My 81 Runs arrrggghhh!

Ray, I thought I read that you "reconnected" the battery? Disconnecting the battery will clear the codes out of the computer. If that's the case, your going to have start over with finding the codes. Drive the car for a bit and try to pull the codes before you disconnect the battery again...

Photos of my 3-1/2-year'64 Restoration & Rebuild Process

Wow, very very nice. Did you do any mods to the suspension, or did you go with stock pieces? The car looks fantastic and I'll bet it's a joy to drive!! Thanks for sharing!
