The noise is certainly from the EMT's, and if they are old, they are louder still. As soon as I needed new skins, I dumped the EMT's for GY Eagle GSD III's. Best thing I ever did. My .02

The amount or noise reduction that can be obtained with new tires is amazing. I personally prefer the Goodyear F-1 GSD 3's. They are not EMT's, but I was extremely suprised the moment I had the OEM EMT's removed and these put on.
