Yeah, I thought so too. It was sitting on a Mercedes dealers lot for 3 months. I called and made a rediculous offer. They called back at 4:30 pm and said "be her by 7pm and you can have it." Naturally I jumped. THey paid $30,000 for it on trade-in.
I guess when you sell mercedes, you can take a...
I bought my 1994 #54, Red Metallic/Black Interior, like new, 16,500 miles in August of 2004 for $26,500 from a dealer in San Jose CA. ZR-1's just are not getting the prices they deserve.
The last 4 numbers of the VIN tell you where your car occured in the production run. For example, my 1994 ZR-1 ends in "0054" meaning it was the 54th produced that year.
Interesting thread..
Hib, why the '82 collectors edition? Seems out of place with the rest.
For me, the "investment factor" is just part of the thrill and mystique. I enjoy my '94 for all of the reasons mentioned by others, but I really think it'll be worth something on 20 years, and that's...

Came across this ad on craigslist, thought it sounded like it had possibilities for the interested party

I'm about 20 miles away and can view it if needed.
Why not sell the ZR-1, buy a similar LT-1 corvette and take the cash and put it toward the new motor? Seems like a waste to start heavily modifying the Z when you'd probably be decreasing its value in the long run.
Turbo
While what you say is possible, I can't recall ever seeing a C4 out here with a front plate. Could be a coincidence (or a conspiracy). Seems odd that they would have a provision for cars with only one plate in the DMV code if all cars were issued with 2 plates "back to at least the...
