JohnZ is usually right, but I thought surging is more spark related... Maybe fouled out plugs, wrong gap, wrong plugs (platinum in a non-platinum car)... Wrong timing or dwell, maybe meter is off calibration...

That's why you should put in a quart of G.M.'s EOS right on the cam & lifters before the intake is put on...

Only the engine & transmission will have the vin serial number on it. Every other part will have a part number & date code. This book will tell you everything you need to know about number matching...

Without a doubt, go to a reliable shop. I would not get a kit for this,to do it on your back, plus a H-pipe like I have or an X-pipe is needed (or should I say...should be installed)... It took an expert over 5 hours to do mine...
