    Help! 1990 corvette will not crank

    Sounds like it could be a VATS issue. Clean the key well with alcohol. Wait 10 minutes from the last time you turned the key and see what happens. If no improvement, try your spare key. Most times, cleaning the key works.

    Call him back and ask if a governor could cause this problem. If he says no, run away from this shop.

    Be sure he replaces the governor gear during the overhaul. If the car is not shifting out of first, and it has sufficent line pressure (from the tv system, this trans has no kickdown cable). Governor valve (sticking) or gear stripping is a common problem on any 700r4 that sits alot. Hopefully...

    Yup. We have been upgrading L-98 engines for 26 years. There is not a whole lot left to discover, but there is 26 years worth of info out there that simply involves clicking the search button, and researching.

    I sure am. I holed a piston last year, just before I was to rip out the normal trans, and install the hybrid. Rather than fix the 383, I had a 406 bullet on the stand. Workin on the tune up now. Once it is good to go, I will baseline it, swap it out, and document the result. If it doesn't work...

    You are in a tough situation with the retrofit of an earlier year. The valvebody, and seperator plate, and internal wiring harness are unique.
