    Cool Garage Door Opener

I spoke with my garage door guy this weekend about installing a pair of these on a job......here's his reply: The Wayne Dalton I-drive won't work on your job for 2 reasons. #1 the I-drive is not compatible w/ high lift or lift clearance track (only standard lift and low headroom tracks)...

    Garage Door Modification

I design and consult on garages and workshops for car collectors (and a few dealers...did some work at Prestige Porsche up in your neck of the woods...see http://www.ultimategarage.com/prestige.html for some pics). When I started doing this back in 1994 (after 20 years at IBM), I had no...

    Garage Door Modification

The neutral color scheme is to allow the cars and cabinetry to be the focal point in the room (without color clashes). Black and white is classic although I didn't want to get into the checkered flag look which is very overdone. The faux painted ceiling ties the colors of the floors, walls and...

    Garage Door Modification

Took some pictures today now that the painter has all his scaffolding out of the garage. After doing all the tile and granite work, it was apparent that the garage door and tracks were ruining the look of the room. With some afterthought and a good garage door installer, we took the door and...

    Ultgar - Have a garage ? for ya -

You can handle humidity with a portable unit...get one with a built-in pump (I sell the Therma-Stor Santa Fe unit) to get rid of the water. Heating can run $1000 and up (installed)...cheapest being a Modine Hot Dawg ceiling mounted unit (vented of course) to a full blown hydonic unit with...

    Garage Humidity Control

Each of the dyno pods uses a Vickers pump and hydraulics for loading. The pods are water cooled and the hot water goes into my drywell or pond. Fortunately, most dyno runs only last 7-10 seconds after car reaches operating temps. Still, a lot of heat to deal with, especially on turbo cars...

    Garage Humidity Control

You'll will typically need a 20-30a (220v) breaker for the compressor and 15-20a (220v) for the air handler. Humidity control is more important in my opinion for the garage. I'm doing a garage right now for a Seattle (Mercer Island) guy with an AC Cobra....no air conditioning but definitely has...

    Garage Humidity Control

Thanks for the detailed write-up John. I've only had my A/C system operational for a week and the outdoor humidity has been around 90% @ 75-80F all week here in the Northeast. My system at 2 1/2 tons is oversized for a 20x32' room which may help explain why it is not able to keep the humidity...

    Garage Humidity Control

Finally got the A/C running in the main workshop (2 1/2 ton Unico system through 12 air drops) and the system works great for controlling temperature. Unfortunately, humidity is the enemy to the cars and tools in our garages and with the heavy weather we've been having here in the Northeast...

    Race Deck Floors

I've got about 1500 ft of it that I want to get rid of at cost......all the popular colors. Need to make room in my warehouse. Contact me directly if interested at ultgar@earthlink.net . I'm in Northern NJ for anyone local who wants to pick the tile up and save on freight. Steve

    Your Dream Garage

I will be hiring someone later in the year for dyno sales and operations (sorry, 16" is a bit young for this). BTW....Emerson is in Northern NJ, about 5 miles from what used to be Malcolm Conner Corvette (largest Corvette dealer in the US....I think Kerback or someone else now has that title). SD
