Thanks for the response, 93Ruby!
I'm getting that 'SYS' flashing on the dash now.
Other than that...no codes.
I do hear pump when I switch the key to 'On'.
It's firing...just won't turn over.
My 93 won't start. It wants to turn over...
It's been sitting for about 6 mths..battery was disconnected.
Connected a new battery, all the bells and whistles light up, stereo plays, alarm works, windows go up and down... but the Vette won't turn over.
Got some STP octane booster... think this'll...
Mine did this very same thing... turns out it was the starter. Had to wriggle under the Vette as best I could and give the started a coupla good whacks with a towel covered wrench. Started right up, but low readings prevailed. Had it replaced.
Other than instructions in the service manuals...
But look. It's not hard at all. I've done this. You'll need to remove the trim, take off the speaker cover, then peel back the carpet. The speaker is sitting right there and its a simple unplugging of the pigtail to get it out to replace the amp...
Once u replace the battery, all codes stored will disappear. Are you having any problems with the passive key system? If yes, then the SYS light will blink and the SECURITY light will be on at the same time.
Also, get yourself a set of factory service manuals if you don't already have them...
Cool ones like what? As in, what do YOU have in mind? Cause you can always have your valve covers painted to match that nifty red exterior paint. ...just a thought.
Thanks, Jane Ann. I'll be seeing MCC members Thursday night at the monthly club meeting. I'm a member. And seeing as how my thread got turned into a Q&A about somebody's valve problem, I'll ask around on other sites also and see if I can get pointed in the right direction. :w
Thanks, John.
Checked valves and all's well there. Since all that check out, there was a problem traced to the wiring harness and the relay. But that was the tech's fault. The weather should warm up significantly by the end of the week-enough for me to run the A/C and see if I get an 'SYS'...
Hey, Marty G.
*HVAC: Heater-Vent-Air Conditioning (add an M on the end for Module)--I just didn't add 'control head unit' to the end in my post. Its the button controlled box for the heater, A/C, defrost, etc.
*ECM: Engine Control Module-the computer for the car
*EEPROM OR EPROM (computer...
I just don't trust the dealers in my area. Last time I took the Vette to them (which I detailed in an earlier post on the CAC) for a simple oil change, they put the wrong weight oil in the car-which I didn't notice until I was balancing my checkbook and looking over the bill. The service manager...
Is your passive key alarm system workiing properly? If not, this could be the source of the SYS light blinking. It also indicates that the computer in your vette is detecting some type of electrical problem.
