I have an '87 Z51 standard trans Vette. I am going to install a big block in it, with stand alone aftermarket EFI. I have the fans and overdrive handled without using the computer, and will be bypassing the ABS system. The only thing I want to keep is the digital dash. (Maybe). What do I...
Yeah, bad time for me. Disabled and living on a low fixed income, just had to move to a new city 200 miles away, getting divorced, and I have my 8 year old daughter living with me. Pretty stressful. But I still love my Vette!

I knew I would get some answers like this. But at $240.00 to service the rear wheel bearings, plus $320.00 to service the front, plus about $120.00 for the four half shaft u-joints, well, 680 bucks for basic service items (PARTS ONLY) seems pretty high even for a Corvette. I've done virtually...
Hey guys, sorry if this has been beat to death before....
I need to replace the rear wheel hub assemblies on my C4. I know I should buy the Timken hubs but at $110.00 each that is outside my budget at the moment. But then I don't want to buy Chinese junk for on the car either. Are there...
My brother has a '94 Z-28 Camaro with a Holley throttle body on it and he his going to sell the car. Can I make that throttle body fit on my 87 TPI Vette? I can do modifications if needed. If it can be made to fit, should I put mine on his car to sell, or save mine along with the other original...
Ok, I'll have a good look there and see. Thanks!
I've been wanting to put a cam in this car, but if I am going that far I should go ahead and rebuild the engine. If I am going to have to pull the intake, well, I'll probably find myself into a full blown overhaul as I won't want to pull the...
Ok, thanks guys. I'll keep looking for the leak. I have a sneaky suspcion that I'm not going to find it until I rebuild the engine though, as there is virtually no evidence of an exterior leak that I can find.
Thanks again,

I am presently using the factory dual exhaust with the catalytic converters gutted, and Flowmaster mufflers. I'm also running a 180 thermostat and a coolant sensor that turns the fans on at 180. Soon I would like to rebuild the engine with a moderate Comp Cams...
I don't think the heads have ever been off of this one. I replaced all the water hoses, and I've been all over the front end of the engine removing the smog equipment, replacing the a/c compressor, etc. I replaced the water hoses down for the oil cooler down near the exhaust/oil filter with...
1987 Corvette.
Been a mechanic for 40 years, but I am having trouble with this one.
My Corvette will hold a 17 lb. radiator pressure test for hours without dropping even 1/2 lb. and not a drop of water leaks out anywhere.
However, the car may run fine and hold water for weeks, and make long...
Further explanation...
The system was retrofitted with R-134. I dismantled the entire system, including removing the condensor, all lines, and the compressor. I flushed and cleaned everything thoroughly. Then I assembled the system with a new acumulator, new orifice tube, new esther oil, and...
