    Question: Where To Paint??

The best bet would be to investigate several options. Ask to see examples of their work. I know first hand that a fancy place with all the top end equipment can turn out just as bad a job as a guy doing it out of his shed. Once you see examples of their find the middle road price wise.

    Oil change interval question

I've never heard of anyone putting 2 cycle oil in the gas tank becasue it was good for injectors. I would hold off on that.

    Losing connection when datalogging

I've never had any issues with Datamaster while scanning my 86. I've probably performed 500 scans with no issues. Are you using the free version, or did you pay for unlimited scans? You may try reloading the software. The ALDL cable you have, is it true usb, or are you using an USB to RS232...

    Help! Crossfire EFI problems.

Does the motor run fine, and start fine when cold, when in open loop? My thoughts are that if the motor only runs poorly once closed loop occurs, their could be a problem with engine management as the ECM see's it. Hence the suggestions about checking the inputs (sensors) to the ECM. Do you...

    Help! 1986 engine problems

Is/was the service engine soon light on? If so evaluating those codes should be at the top of your list. If it runs decent when cold, than runs worse once it is up to operating temps, this could indicate a bad engine control device. What happens is once the engine warms to operating temp, the...

    Stock Headlight Restoration

I may have an opportunity to purchase a 1972 convertible. The selling price is right. I'm told the frame is solid, the motor matches the vin. I'd have to verify transmission and rear end. I'm waiting for pictures as the car is a couple hours from my door. The owner tells me that the head lights...

Power Brake Booster May Have Gone Out?

Your best bet would be to start a new thread in the C5 tech section. You can also send a private message to Edmund to alert him of this post. I'm pretty sure that he didn't have his C5 at the time of making this specific post, probably his 35th anniversary.

    Drivers Door won't open

I do not have the manual for this car. I'm not exactly sure if the door is unlocked. I can move the lock knob and see mechanical pieces move inside the door. I can also pull the handle and see mechanical pieces move inside the door. This all started when I attempted to replace the rod from the...

    Drivers Door won't open

I can move the interior lock knob and get decent travel. I can even hear the unlock sound that the working door makes. When I try the key, I don't get any movement of the mechanisim. I'm looking at going thru the top of the door to unlock. I've found several old threads, inluding this one...

Bought C5 on Ebay and picking it up on Wednesday. Need some help!

Welcome to the Forum! :w Sounds like you've done some homework, and the suggestions added here are spot on. You'll be able to tell a lot when speaking to the seller. How long has the car been owned, how many owners has the car had, and where are the receipts for work done to the car? I don't...

Speedometer gear to Speedometer cable replacement

The gear was good, so my repair consisted of replacing the cable. The job wasn't too bad, just a bit of a hassle. I was able to reach up under the dash, press the clip that holds the cable to the back of the speedo, than work it back out the firewall. Everything else is pretty straight forward.

Speedometer gear to Speedometer cable replacement

I'm working on a 73 auto. I know the cable is bad. The cable is a two piece cable. I took the cable off the tranny and spun it, with no effect on the speedo. I then seperated it at the conection point. From that point to the speedometer assembly is siezed up. I'm going to be replacing the cable...

    1986 Corvette Ignition problem

A new set of injectors should be in your near future. Stock injectors for an 86 flowed 22 lb/hr. There are many good sources for injectors. I'm sure folks will chime in with their successes with injector purchases.
