    Ok, its official...

If you change the Muncie to a 2.5:1 first gear, you're car will be 10% below mine. Easily done. I had my 2 spare Muncies rebuilt that way.

    Ok, its official...

my 66 Sting Ray has a 3.08:1 diff and a 2.5:1 first gear muncie which should be the same final ratio as a 2.2:1 Muncie and a 3.36:1 diff. I have been happy with this combination for over 20 years, and I suspect that you would be too if your car had a little more torque in the lower rpm range...

I found a treasure in an old box

Spring Corvette Event at Watkins Glen

Almost makes me wish I still lived in Buffalo NY. I used to attend the F1 Grand Prix races in October, with the countryside in incredible colors.

    1966 headlight operation

To determine if it is the motor or the headlamp (rotating) assembly, pull the lock clip and back the motor out of the assembly to see if the swivels have rusted or are full of highway bugs/debris. If the assembly rotates freely, unplug the motor and unscrew the ground wire and bracket and...

    '64 Magnum Opus

IMO when it comes to radical Corvette customs, it takes a back seat (hahaha) to Love Is Blue in both looks and performance. I have followed this car across the country on the Hot Rod Magazine Power tour, and it's quite a performer for a dependable street machine...

    Timing - 40 degrees

Did you remove/replace the distributor drive gear while the cam was being changed? You may have it backward on the shaft........

How to keep your car safe?

I'm still driving my 66 everywhere. If it disappears from a parking lot some night, I will accept that - knowing I've had 21 years of fantastic fun in it. The bustthem.com guys quit modifying cell phones years ago, and I see that the link posted above is being hijacked by a group of...

what is the best method to put '63 hub cap covers on without denting them?

I used a Dremel grinding tool to remove a couple of thousandths from the "biting" edges. Now I can push them on - if I push really hard.

Midyear Hood alignment: a raised front

I believe the "correct" solution is to raise the fenders by prying them from the inner fender panels and then rebonding them. This "incorrect" fix has worked for me in the past: To lower the hinges and remove the hood rattle of worn out hinge spring washers: 1 Obtain a small round file...

    C2 power steering

Are you sure the steering box is centered (lock to lock) when the valve is centering the front wheels to be straight ahead? I have heard of some problems with a steering box that is not centered.

    '64 headlight problems

IMO the first thing to do is pull the clip that holds the slow motor and make sure the lamp assembly flops back and forth with no resistance. If it does, the motor needs work. If not, try spraying silicone lube onto the pivot shaft (use the long thin tube on the nozzle) to see if you can lube...

Question: Going on the Hot Rod Magazine Power Tour?

I'll see if the silver c4 with white analog gauges is Long Hauling again this year - it's my favorite. Actually the digital dash is the only thing I could never warm up to during the 80s. I guess I'm an analog kind of guy.
