    No Spark...Need help please....

Chas, Are we talking points and coil, or electronic ignition? The older ones have the battery lug and two small posts on the starter solenoid. (newer ones only have 1, I'm told) The inside post engages the starter, and the outside one sends spark to the coil while it is cranking, and once it...

    USA-1 license plate

WOW, are dealerships shady or what!! $50 for a license plate??? I bought one like in steelblue75's avatar in the late '70s for like 2 bucks. A friend of mine got one just like it for his truck last year from a Chevy parts catalog for $6.95, even showed me the mag. And yes, it is raised. Craig

    Driveshaft and Half Shaft Install

Did you press them all apart to replace the universals? Otherwise the yoke would go in the transmission. Is the driveshaft the same diameter the full length? If not, the necked down end probably goes to the rear - all the other driveshafts I have are like that. Good luck! Craig

    Low Compression

Generally, two consecutive cylinders with low compression is consistent with a blown head gasket between them. When you say a quart of oil every 250-300 miles, do you mean every two weeks or twice a summer? What you have described sounds like valve cover gaskets, the heat of the engine will burn...

building a dream,or wasting your casH??

Boy Howdy! (that's a southern expression equal to 'you're telling me'!) When my Vette was built, I was 2 months shy of 20 years old, making like $12,000/year. My car cost new $19,000. Not likely. My mom had a '73 and I always wanted one. (for the record, my Dad had a '70 Olds 442 automatic...

Yep, except that 'yours looks better' thing, we're twins! Yours is probably original too, but I'd be glad to compare notes with you anytime:D Keep the faith. Craig

    Tire size

I do. They rub when I crank the wheel all the way (pulling into the garage) The car wanders a bit too, not sure if it's tire related or not. Other than that, they look good! Craig

Some people just don't have a clue.

I've seen (and heard it all) too. After I got mine painted, I didn't put the 'Corvette' nameplate back on the rear bumper. A 10 year old (or so) kid up the street rides by on his bike with his buddy and hollers, 'Wow, nice Vette!' I also have a friend (40) that I go to games with. This guy for...

    Power lock help

Hey Tom, I don't think that switch is 'Corvette exclusive' either. My neighbor had an 89 Blazer with power locks, and the switch looked the same to me. It even had 'LOCK' on the bezel like ours do. Craig

Rear Speakers and Stereo in 81

You haven't tried to put them in the hole yet, have you Bob?? Mine has newer (bigger) speakers laying in the back. Cheesy radio, don't turn it on very often - someday I'll get it all upgraded with a CD player, by then everybody will have an MP3 player - whatever they are!! The thing about Vettes...

    Power lock help

Hey Tom, I did the same thing, with the same result. Those switches aren't all the same. You probably got a power window switch, which looks the same but isn't. After I got the proper switch, everything was fine. Craig

WINTERIZING ?THIS MAY BE A SHORT WINTER ?

Johnstown - flood. 1977 disastrous Was that before or after they filmed Slap Shot??? I like it better when it's 'cooler' too - nothing worse than working up a sweat drying off after a shower!!! I just cannot believe here in the Williamsport area that we still have no snow to speak of, our...

    Snow Sucks

One month into winter in central PA, and still no snow. Without winter, summer would seem like nothing special. If the sun shone every day, we'd be complaining how our interiors were all fading! I'd much rather shovel snow than cut grass, because my side walk isn't nearly as big as my yard, and...

    68 heater core replacement

Beep beep, beep beep, it's horn went beep beep beep! On a related note - the 'worst Corvette' SURELY wasn't built in St. Louis!!!!! Just my opinoin (although a popular one this time) Craig

    Which one

Hey Toyz, I have dual quads on my project engine. Most people will tell you that they are just for looks, that a single 4 barrel will work as well or better. I had always thought when I was just starting out with cars that by now I'd be running a blower, but I kind of got sidetracked for 20...

My Rebuild is disappointing so far

What exactly is a '3/4 cam'? I keep hearing people refer to them and have no idea what they are talking about. Just wondering. Craig
