    PROBLEMS WITH A 1990 5.7 AUTO

Don't give up! Leave the .44 wrench in the tool box! :r I just went through almost two months of troubleshooting mine and we finally found the problem. The beneift is that you will have reduced the number of parts that can fail and leave you stranded by replacing them before they do. You have...

    PROBLEMS WITH A 1990 5.7 AUTO

AND? Have you checked the resistance of your injectors? What did you find? I recently went through a crank/fire/stall condition and it turned out to be the injector on # 8 cylinder basically shorted to ground. It is a very simple check. Give it a shot if you haven't and let us know what you...

I recently installed Accel 23 #/hr injectors. $279 from Summit. So far so good but they only have 1000 miles on them.

    Clunk! Clunk!

No More Clunk Feeling frisky after conquering the crank/fire/die condition, I got back to checking this problem out. Turns out it was worn out brake linings. Replaced this weekend and no more clunk! I did notice that the outboard pad had way more wear on both sides. The funny thing is the...

WHAT TO AVOID - mid to late 80s

I have an 89. It is a great car. BUT, even though I bought it with only 74, 000 miles on it, I have still had to do some work on it. headlight bushings, water pump, alternator, inner door window seals, troubleshooting turn signal and running lights, replacing emblems, tune up parts, fluid...

    Hard Start/No Start Epilogue

I took her out Saturday for a 110 mile road trip. Everythng went well. The car starts quickly and idles perfectly. Runs like a champ; although I don't notice any improvement in performance. It was great fun having her back on the road. I thought a wrap up was in order so where we go! It...

    Hard Start/No Start Troubleshooting Log

Eureka!!! Hi all. I am in Phoenix for my baseball tournament. But I had to post to say that I got everything back together Saturday morning before my flight left. Fired her up and she runs and idles! :Twist Wasn't able to drive her but let her idle in the garage and get up to temp. I am as...

    Hard Start/No Start Troubleshooting Log

imur61 - I think you have a completely different problem. An issue with the start circuit. A service manual is an invaluable tool. ap g35c - Man. You have about one tenth of the time and money invested in fixing yours . BUT, I have a new fuel pump and strainer, new ecm, new ignition...

    New Member, introduction!

Welcome and don't worry. The continuous contraction of the facial muscles around your mouth is the result of the Corvette grin. The condition is chronic but not terminal!:D

    Hard Start/No Start Troubleshooting Log

Step by Step Injectors arrived Friday evening but still waiting on new EGR and FPR. So, :eyerole I CLEANED. Cleaned up the plenum and runners. Soaked them both and got all the oil and gunk off the inside as well. Of course, the same gunk that was in the runners is in the intake but I have...

    Hard Start/No Start Troubleshooting Log

It is actually a 16 millimeter flare nut. The one on mine is stuck tight. I ended up disconnecting the hose from the steel tube and removing the plenum with the tube still connected. Tricky! I hope to be able to get it off while the plenum is on the bench. Easier to put back togehter that...

    Hard Start/No Start Troubleshooting Log

Go to thirdgen.org and look for an article called TPI Injector Swap. While not specific to Corvettes it contains a pretty good explanation and some pics. You will need a 17 millimeter flare nut wrench for the brake booster vacuum connection to the plenum. Ask me how I know!?

    Hard Start/No Start Troubleshooting Log

Thanks for the Input ecss - I will try disconnecting injector # 8 tonight! eiball - Glad yours is running well again. Black Bart - Thanks for the info on the ECM internal injector driver protection. I had wondered if the ECM somehow sensed the problem and shut itself down. I understood...

    Hard Start/No Start Troubleshooting Log

THE LATEST Measured the resistance of each fuel injector coil at the behest of c4c5specialist. # 1 through # 7 all around 15 ohms. # 8? 3 ohms. :eek So the right side fuel injectors won't fire. 3 ohms is close to a short to ground. I have already ordered some Accel injectors and they are...

    Hard Start/No Start Troubleshooting Log

No Codes No codes have been stored throughout this saga. I suppose I might check again now that I have a new ECM. There is a place in Illinois called vette2vette. I got a set of transmission cooler lines from them. Good service and reasonable pricing. vette2vette.com
