Well, it appears my 8 used (but matched) injectors have one that is bad.
So, I'm going to replace all eight while I'm replacing the bad one. Any recommendations for injectors? I'm running 24lb LT1 injectors. I'd rather not spend a lot either.
Anyways, as I was driving home from work today, the power seemed to fall out from the engine. For the last two weeks, it seems as though its been off its game a bit. Rough idle, occasional stalls at lights (not atypical when not using VSS). Nothing big though.
When I noticed something was wrong today, the strong smell of gas from the driver's side sidepipe was noticeable as soon as it started to run rough. When I got it home off the flatbed, I pulled the spark plugs and the valve covers. The springs weren't cracked nor are there any bent push rods (whew). All of the rockers appeared to be okay. Granted, the engine didn't have any noises that would have indicated mechanical failure- it just seemed as if it had a bad plug or wire. I know my engine and my car. I don't think I've lost compression- but I'll check this weekend.
The number one plug was wet and there was some drainage of fuel out of the cylinder. No surprise though- I did run it for a minute or two to pull it into the garage. I'm pretty convinced it is the injectors. They were used and I purchased them from Ebay. So much for the $99 injectors I bought earlier this year.:L
