I can see where that could be a problem. So far, we haven't had that complaint. Apparently enough of our awards go to cars from Iowa and other local clubs that there hasn't been cause for complaint.
I used a floor jack under the spring. Just make sure the spring is protected, so the jack doesn't damage it. The whole spring doesn't have to come out. Just the ends need to be disconnected by the wheel. I was able to get the half shafts out without removing the tie rod ends. It took a...
I only put mine in one show a year. It's a show sponsored by our club and my wife and I work the show (Registration, parking, etc.). I just wash it and park it and then enjoy the show. I think it's pretty funny that the last two years I have gotten an award over some of the people who spend...
We just had our annual show last weekend. We enclose the show area so there is only one way in or out. Nobody can get in without paying. We provide ballots to the show participants and they vote on their favorite car in each class. On Sunday we had Concours judging for those who wanted to...
My stock '88 gets 20 in local driving and 26-27 at freeway speeds. When we did our Route 66 trip I got 24 mpg for the entire 5200 mile trip. Of my three cars, the Vette gets the best mileage, IF I drive it like I do the other cars.:Steer
The '86 has the L98 engine = no optispark.
Read the codes and go from there. If it's running OK now, it's probably OK to drive while you're figuring it out.
I can only comment on #3. I just replaced my u-joints and was able to get the drive shaft out and back in without removing the support beam. It was tight but doable. Mine is an '88 automatic.
I thought it was interesting that the section of the service manual for removing the support beam...
Mike,
I see you're in Phoenix. I just got back from there Tuesday night.
It sounds like you may have one or more leaky injectors which will result in a partially flooded condition after shutting the car off until it has time to dry out. You can check by connecting a fuel pressure gauge and...
I have the Rhino ramps and had a problem with them sliding on the floor. I had to put some blocking from the ramps to the front wall of the garage in order to get the car up on them.
As Silveradojoe said the fan doesn't come on until around 230, unless you have the AC on and then the fan is on all of the time. You want the temp. to get above 212 occassionally to boil off any condensation that may have developed in the crankcase.
Enjoy your new ride.:w
The piece that the screw goes into is spinning. Use a screwdriver to pry up on the knob while turning. This should create enough friction to keep it from spinning and allow you to remove the screw.
I don't know about the '86 but my '88 has a low coolant sensor in the reservoir. The reservoir cap has a dip stick attached to it and the coolant in the reservoir needs to be at the proper level.
The lights are working properly. The clear light is not a turn signal, but a light to help the...
I missed that yours is an '87, so it probably is the gears. The bushings started in '88.
I seriously doubt if it would be the gears. Get some new bushings and follow the instructions in the link Edmond provided. Not a bad job. It took me two hours to do one of mine. That included going to...
You may be right about the subject line not getting the right people looking. I would just start a new thread with a different subject line.
I see you already did that.
Good luck.
John
