    I have the coolest wife...

I'd be lucky if my wife could identify a Vette at all without looking at the emblems. Doesn't matter though, as long as she lets me own one, I'm good.

    How Many C3's Are Left?

    1985 is a C4 right? So I'll claim mine as #193

    75 tachometer

If I recall correctly, my dead tach would sit around 1000 when the engine was off, then go to zero when you started the car. There was no jumping around when it was running. New circuit board fixed it, but it was a job taking apart the dash to get it. It might be worth a continuity test on...

75 silver leather seat for sale

I have one silver leather seat in good condition. Has tracks, adjust lever, tilt release works. Seat is complete except the back cover. All the chrome is in good condition. The stops between the top and bottom half of the seat line up well. It may be original leather - it has a few tiny...

    Help! 1977 Vette 1st purchase :)

If you are not already convinced to pass on this, make up a list of all the replacment parts you know of and put a price on each one. If you are not a mechanic then you will need to include labor costs. When done with this figure out the price for this car in good condition. Also consider...

Winter in the North, what do you do??

As I spotted a couple Vettes on the road today I remembered this thread. Weather's been mild here, and the salt is off the roads. Drove mine to work last week one day - got a little wet on the way home. So I guess I fit in a drive when I can...

Winter in the North, what do you do??

    1. Hope for a warm couple rainy days (read 40's) to wash off the salt from the roads, followed by dry day or days to drive it. 2. Reflect on all the improvements I put in this past year and plan the next round of work 3. Take care of all the household stuff I ignored when I was working on...

Will Cooksey Lays it Down at Carlisle!

I don't know how many Vettes were damaged, but I only saw four with damage on the fairgrounds Sunday. Two were in the pics that gmjunkie put up. I talked to the C4 owner and he was handling it well - with the newfound damage the price was down to $2995 - the cheapest complete car I saw there...

Doctor says I don't have much time

Sure I'll come see you in the pokey. I could even bring your car so you could visit it. All of this presumes that they actually catch you of course. :Steer

Just got my dream car, where do I start?

I have had mine for over two years, and put in over $2000 in parts so far. My focus points have been to get the car in good mechanical condition and bring it back to stock. I definitely agree that you want to plan ahead and take on one project at a time, taking time to drive/enjoy it in...

    My own strange brake problem....

I used that power bleeder on my recent brake work and it worked well. The pressure you use affects how well it bleeds. 12 psi worked a lot better than 6 psi at pushing the air out. A couple pumps of the brake with the pressure off mid-way though the bleed may have also helped move the air...

    Finally... It Lives!

I just took mine out tonight for the first time since May 9. Been busy with lots of mechanical improvements. I've been going crazy since I lost two months of driving season to do this work. You are a patient man indeed.

Used C4 Market (Beware, im venting inside)

This is the part where people start low balling you. You will probably have better luck with someone coming to see the car rather than ebay. Being in the presence of the car helps make it more real, and I think that helps if the car is really nice. Hope it works out for you either way...

caliper rebuild using "lip" type seal

Thanks for the replies. When I wrote the first post, my first rebuild attempt was already leaking from two of the four calipers. I had tried fabricating a compressor and tried tucking the lip in with the screwdriver. One of each was leaking. Upon dissassembly last night I found the leaking...

caliper rebuild using "lip" type seal

I am rebuilding a rear caliper for my 75. I can't figure out how to properly get the lip seal into the sleeve while it is on the piston - the lip keeps getting caught on the edge of the sleeve. I think I should have something similar to a piston ring compressor to push the lip in, but can't...

Used C4 Market (Beware, im venting inside)

Like any big project, just create a list of everything that has to be done. Break it down into smaller pieces and figure them out one at a time. Pedals and linkage, transmission, steering column?, computer?, speedo hookup, mounting brackets, bellhousing, neutral safety switch, backup...

Used C4 Market (Beware, im venting inside)

Have you considered converting it to 6 speed? (If you have not already bought the replacement tranny that is.) It's not like you would totally ruin the collector value.

Used C4 Market (Beware, im venting inside)

I think that putting a car for sale on ebay (even by putting a car for sale in any venue for that matter) opens the seller to those types of inquiries. If you want to avoid people fishing for a deal, be sure to say it in the listing: "All bids through ebay only - no outside offers accepted" or...
