    Lumbar Support Problems

I don't know of a source for parts. A complete new pump assembly is around $90. A little spendy but if you spend a lot of time in the car, it can be worth it.

    Lumbar Support Problems

You don't need to remove the seat back. There is a clip under the front center of the seat bottom that will release the bottom cushion and give you access to the pump. There should be one for each seat. They went to a single pump later. Go to the following location for a cheap fix for...

    Intake manifold gasket, help

I had three that wouldn't come out also. I used a Dremel tool to cut a slot in the head and then used a pneumatic chisel with a dull bit held at an angle to unscrew the bolt. Worked great. I bought replacements at a local GM dealer, but you have better offers. Good Luck!

    Intake manifold gasket, help

My gasket set came with a new TB gasket. I don't now why your's wouldn't have. You may want to pick one up, they aren't very expensive. Only use the RTV for the ends of the manifold. Make sure both surfaces are very clean. I can't give you a good time estimate because I did the head...

    Intake manifold gasket, help

I purchased the Fel Pro gasket set and it didn't even come with the end pieces for the intake manifold. They supplied a small tube of black RTV instead. Be sure to clean the surfaces really well. I took a tip from someone else on the CAC and used acetone to wipe down the surfaces to ensure...

    What is normal...safe operating temp?

My radiator had accumulated some leaves and even a few small twigs, but the biggest blockage was from Cottonwood tree seeds. Those little white fuzzy things had blocked around a third of the spaces. The only way to get them out was to remove the radiator and gently brush the fins.

How to clean a car while on the road.

It depends. If it is just normal light soiling, then I use one of the detail sprays. When my white car turned red after going through an Oklahoma rain storm, I used one of the coin operated car washes to get most of the stuff off.

    My First Trophy

Mine is definately a not a show car but I was pleased to get a third place in the "Wash and Show" class at a Corvette show on Sunday. My excuse for paying to enter is to get a good parking spot. I never expected to win anything.

    What's it there for?

So it's just there to vent some hot air? Are you talking about your car or some of the CAC forums? :L

    EGR Valve

Mine hasn't been oily whenever I've been in there to look at it. How much oil are we talking about? Is it generally oily all over, or is it more on one side than another? Is there oil on the components around it?

I believe the specified pressure is with the vacuum line disconnected.

    timing question need help asap--thanks

IT took me a two or three tries to find that wire on my '88. It is near the break booster and probably on the bottom side of one of the hoses. It's hidden pretty well, but once you find it, it's easy.

    Intermittent non or Hard Start

For several months I have had an intermittent starting problem. It started last fall and over the winter I did a bunch of work on the car including new EGR, plugs, wires, distributor cap, rotor, fuel pressure regulator, fuel filter, and MAF relays. The problem persists. It seems to happen...

    Good Mech and fair priced

Edmond is right. TPIS is just over the river in Chaska. It depends on what you are looking for. If you are interested in performance work, I would definately check with TPIS.

    Good Mech and fair priced

I have had good luck with Southcross Auto Service on County Road 42 in Savage. They were recommended to me by friends and they have done a good job and treated me fairly. They have only worked on my other cars, not the Corvette, however, I would trust them to work on it, if it were something I...

    85 Head Gasket Replacement??

Take pictures and label things as you're taking it apart. They will be helpful when reassembling.

    Head Gasket

This is not a trivial job but it can be done. I think the 6-10 hours is optimistic. I did mine over a period of about three weeks, working on it as I had time. I didn't keep track of the actual hours, but it was proabably more in the 15 to 20 range. I also replaced the plug wires and pulled...
