I've heard a punched cat on TPI motors can make the egr rattle and sound like detonation. However my friends 1990 with a plugged cat used to detonate alot as well. Like this hibhalverson said check the prom chip see if it is some custom chip that was never burned correctly and certain things...
I was wrong about the heads they are in fact 195cc heads. apparently the only thing thats going to be done to his tpi parts is port matching thats it.
The engine guy also says he will dyno it with TPI which I don't see how he will pull that off.
Thats what I thought. My best friend is a industrial welder so I told him take some of his 1 inch thick steel and build a scatter shield for the motor itself.
I also forgot to mention this PB600 is going to be try and run at 15PSI ..... I know this cola crank is the same found in chevy's...
My best friend talked to his engine builder last night. So far his short block is complete. However he goes on to say this stroker will turn and make power to 8,000 rpm ...... I basically told him his engine builder has some much better drugs then anyone has ever seen or tried. But you be the...
Thanks Tim
That thread seems to cover up to 1981 though. Do you know if any changes occured to the 1982 model? This is a good start for me though, I plan on making mine a roitissere type to finish fiberglass work on it's back floor & detailing the bottom of the body.
Does anyone have exact dimensions of center to center body mount positions as well as say if the cars body were on a dolly level the height differences between each mount.
I also want to keep my front clip on the body so the dimensions for its mounts are needed as well. Also does a convertible...
are both injectors spraying and does it have good fuel pressure? replace ECT sensor with newer style one, all that fuel could have plugged the cat. bang on cat see if it sounds hollow or pull it and look into it. to much fuel in a cat = instant death.
Isn't a tpi's egr normally closed type ( where vacum actually closes it rather then opens it) ? One way or another if the valve opens and no changes occur in how the engine runs egr passages are clogged. TPI is notorius for clogging right behind the throttle body in the plenum. Pull your...
also was going to say the resovoir would look nicer if you used a 84-92 f-body bracket that mounts it to the brake booster. either that or eliminate it and tap the brake master cylined like "ford" does and get the hydraulic fluid from there.
as for the master cylinder for the clutch, I would...
does anyone know the specifics of this chip used in the real pace car? I know this car used a all aluminum 350 with aluminum heads as well with the cross-fire injection system. Or did chevy just run it with a stock 305 chip? Is anything else known about this pace car engine?
only problem vats is usually accustomed to is lack of maintenance. I replace my tumbler and key every maybe 2 years and it has never given me a trouble. I also have vats on my 1997 camaro 3 tumblers and same thing no problems.
Its not as easy of a system to get around as you think, especially...
You need every possible thing from the "host Vehicle" and setup in your car like it was in the host vehicle. No truck combinations in passenger cars, all emmisions components must operate as they did in the host vehicle.
Then you have to make an appointment with a referee and he will inspect...
That will only allow fuel and injectors to work is all. vats will still lockout starter enable till it see's the right resistance. You will have to bypass your starter enable relay as well.
My 1982 has that on its windows which are convertible ones. I am not sure of the windows year though. But like yours its only on the drivers side as well.
I think instead of removing it all, what would look nice is if you plastic chrome plated all the stock air cleaner and ducting, maybe some nice polished air cleaners and a chrome earlier distributor cover set. Toss in some chrome accessory brackets and it would look real nice even though it's...
