    Question: 93 distributor

My '93 died the same way, with low miles and about 8yrs old. I had to replace the OPTI. It was corroded on the inside. There was a modification somewhere around where you use the '93 dist. and the cap from a '96(which is vented). You have to buy a GM part(vent tube set up that attaches to the...

What kind of MPG are you getting

I've been adding Marvel Mystery Oil, to the oil, and my '85 went from 22 to 23.5 I've been doing this lately and especially before I change oil. Just passed 60K For my '93 auto and '96 manual, I get 26-28 mpg. No foolin! I almost can't believe it myself! these cars are very aerodynamic, and...

    Oil change interval question

I also own a boat, and because it has periods of 'down time', the ethanol content in the gas may separate the water/moisture out of the gas and cause problems. So, for boaters, a preventative is added, such as star-tron(not expensive at all) to prevent the ethanol from doing this. It also acts...

    Oil change interval question

I took out most of the gas, and I plan to put in a mix containing, star-tron(for ethanol protection), another stabilizer and 2 cycle oil(suppose to be good for the injectors. thanks much, won't change the oil.

    Oil change interval question

I really don't use my 93 at all, I use my '85(please don't think I'm bragging). Last year I changed the oil/filter, synthetic as required, and put in gas treatment. I haven't started the car in a year. I know what GM says, but do you folks really think it's necessary to change the oil?. The car...

    40th Anniversary Survey of owners

I got my Ruby in 1999 with 19K, now has about 26K Auto, coupe. I think it is slowly becoming a garage queen, as I use my '85 on a more regular basis.

I added Marvel Mystery oil to my 85 and mpg seems to have increased

When I got my 85 a few years ago, only 41K on her, inside the valve covers looked black and gunky. I always change my oil way under the recommended miles. Recently I decided to put in some Marvel, prior to changing my oil, figured it would clean up some gunk and I also added some for the current...

    Battery removal

I got my battery at Wally World and used Craftsman tools. No problems. You are suppose to mark the fender panel around the nut, so it goes back to a good fit.

Question: Can the Under-hood Lights be Temporarily Disconnected?

Black foam is ok, but after a while it brakes down into a goo, yucky. Best bet are the plugs for M & F. , if you can find those that would be good. Now I have had the tape there 4 yrs, so far OK.

Question: Can the Under-hood Lights be Temporarily Disconnected?

I used a yellow tape I had at the time. It sticks to itself more than the part, but as long as it stays in place as a cover of sorts. You can try to look around for some type of plastic cap that you may find off of something like a shampoo bottle, and tack glue it over the connectors. Or if...

Question: Can the Under-hood Lights be Temporarily Disconnected?

I like to check my engine all the time, oil, different thing etc. so on my '93 I pulled the fuse out. For my '85, no fuse, I disconnected the harness and taped the ends with electrical tape. I don't want to worry about those lights being on every time I open the hood.

Pop-Up Headlights: Where Did They Go?

Also, style. Cars are a styling trend like jeans and dress hemlines. Color is another factor that changes, the only ones that stay the same are black & white.

    Repair book for 'modern era' C4, C5 & C6

I was at a bookstore the other day and found a new project book that shows how to do some repair work on what they call 'modern era' Corvettes. They call the book repair tips for C4, C5 & C6. All of the illustrations show using a C5 as an example. I was wondering if the C5 & C6 are very closely...

Low tire pressure indicator on dash.

Mine is a '96. I have a code scanner, that I got from Pep Boys. My understanding is that these codes would not show up. Don't remember what my results were(brain freeze). Are you saying that if you jump the connector the codes wioll show up? Thanks

Low tire pressure indicator on dash.

Thanks for the info. My message comes on as soon as I drive the car for about 10 min. If I lowered the pressure, the message will come on anyhow. No?? Or if I lower the pressure in each tire, selectively, the bad sensor WILL NOT make the message come on?? Is this correct? Thanks again.

Low tire pressure indicator on dash.

But if all the tire pressure is correct, and the message, LTPWS appears, it has to be a sensor giving a faulty reading. This may work: if you change all the tires out for ones with no sensors, I don't think you will get a message. At that point just keep replacing a tire one at a time with a...
