    Cruise Control Problem

There is an easy way to check the vacuum switch without pulling the underside of the dash apart. Pull the vacuum hose off of the Cruise Servo and suck on it.(or use a vacuum pump & gauge if you are squeamish about what you suck on) The hose should hold a vacuum. If it does not then you can...

vettes and bikes .. hey norton

Very, very, very nice.:upthumbs A few weekends with Mother's metal polish and you could show that baby. In addition to servicing the engine, chain, suspension, etc. you will need to replace the brake pads and tires before trusting your life on it. I buy most of my motorcycle tires here they...

    #1 on an 86 distributor

If the distributor is correctly fit into the engine #1 is the first wire to the left of the connector block. If you are not sure about the distributor turn the motor to TDC of the compression stroke for #1 cylinder and see where the rotor is pointing.

    Cruise Control Problem

The other common source of failure is the vacuum switch on the brake pedal. The switch is made of crappy nylon and with time will slip back in its adjusting nuts allowing the vacuum to bleed off. Replacing a crappy part with a new crappy part does not really appeal to me so I used a heavy duty...

    Power Seat Repair/Replace

It is a piece of cake. 1)Run the seat back, pop off the plastic trim over the front bolts. They are held in with plastic push pins. Push the center of the push pin all the way through and the pin will come out with on problem. find the center piece that you pushed through so that you can reuse...

    The Black Wheel Trend

I had Thunder's wheels powder coated black and loved it for about 3 months.:D Do you have any idea how hard it is to get good Powder coat out of all the nooks and crannies?:ugh Clue - it can't be done.:mad I just ordered a new set of ZR1 wheels in ¨bling bling Chrome.¨:D

Cross threaded and need to fix...HELP!!!!!!

The Back-Tap is only available in 10, 12, 14 & 18 MM. Looking at the picture I think that you could make one. Start with a hi-quality tap. Bore it to about 80% of its diameter and slice a cut down its length wide enough to compress it smaller than the ID of the threads to be chased. If you do...

building a dream,or wasting your casH??

There are those of us who like building them and there are those who like owning/showing them. It is two different mentalities. One is not wrong, the other is not right; it is just the way we are. I am a builder. When the build can be done no better then I am happy to see somebody else drive...

You have a real find my friend. I checked with the UK Classic Bike Club. A non runner missing parts like the tank, seat, side covers would bring well over $2K and show quality Commandos go for up to $15000.:upthumbs Their advice is: Change to an electronic ignition. Do not rebuild the shocks -...

Hot Rod Air ..BB 502 Install Project Post #2

Here it is for real. I am not sure if it reads metric Blings or SAE Blings. Either way I think you will be safe if you keep the dial around 3 o'clock.

72 is coming right up to the end of the ¨classic British bikes¨. It could be a great find. How original is it? Original paint, tank badges, fenders? Does it have disk brakes on both wheels? Investment wise keeping it stock is your best bet. For rideability make your own wiring harness and use...

Europe-only Corvette Victory Edition arriving in March

The Racing team's owner's bother has one in Tenerife. I saw it on the road when he drove by taking it to the ferry in Cadiz and the owner of the local brothel has a red rag-top. Outside of those two the only C6s that I have seen were at a dealership in Colon. The Spanish price does not leave...

Europe-only Corvette Victory Edition arriving in March

Europeans buy more show than go. They would probably sell them just the same if it came with the 3.1ltr. V6. Over here you can buy a M series BMW with the base diesel. All you really get is the M logo and leather seats. I tell everybody that ask that Thunder has ¨the 3500CC¨motor and they...

    Water pump?

The thermostat housing but if the water is coming from the bottom this is not your problem. If you remove the Air pump you will need an idler pulley in its place. If you disconnect the tubing from the air pump it will remove almost all of the drag. Somebody over on thirdgen.org opened up the...

It is no problem at all as long as you have some elf like slaves.:rotfl With the right tools it is only a pain in the A$$... not impossible.:W You need a set of crow's feet in 3/8¨drive and a set of ratchet wrenches (craftsman or snap-on) and you are set to go. When you put it back together...

    Pls. Look At My Shocks!

There is not enough fluid in a shock to make the mess on your front suspension and Blistein tells you that the shocks will leak a bit. Pull em off and check em. There is a machine called a suspension dyno in Europe (no idea what it is called in the US) that will test the shock and give you a...

    driveway queen

In the last few years (since the EEC and they could buy refrigeration that works) the British have started drinking cold beer. In the pubs they call it ¨extra cold¨ and charge about $0.50 a pint more to offset the cost of colling it. :beer I am not making this up. Ask some of our Brit members. :w

    driveway queen

The SU carbs will need a proper strip down and cleaning otherwise the pots will leak so much gas that it will be a fire hazard if the Lucas electrics actually make a spark. After turning the motor over by hand I would pull out the plugs and spin it with the starter until it shows good oil...
