I have a tick in the motor since returning from Bowling Green that only happens on start up and lasts for about 30 seconds. :cry It doesn't sound like piston slap, but rather a lifter. Has anyone had the cut o-ring called out in the above TSB and if so, what were the symptoms?
TIA
You can see the blackwing here in this photo. I sits the same place as stock (doesn't bottom breath) so any water that would get into this would also get into stock. Also, according to all the oil analysis I have seen to date, the Blackwing provides better filtration then the K&N (less silicon...
Quick question to those who have had this problem. How loud is the ticking noise? Is it like a callapsed lifter and very audible or is it very faint? Any other symptoms like low oil pressure or anything?
Thanks
Yes, same boot but it doesn't seal against the shifter. Also, some of the noise attenuation properties that the stock shifter has are not present in the aftermarket models.
How do you find the noise. That was the biggest issue I had with the Hurst when I installed it, it transmitted a lot of noise from the transmission tunnel and really detracted from the car. I ended up taking the Hurst out of the car in favor of the stock unit.
Shifter is very easy to install, but be prepared for more noise in the car. I installed a Hurst and later removed it due to excessive transmission tunnel noise. My wife hated the sounds.
I bought my car from Kerbeck, Dave Brown also was my salesman. Their used cars must be equipped as delivered from the factory. If the car has modifications or different tires then they tend to shy away. They don't usually give good trades. I was very happy with my purchase and how I was...
Ah yes, but I am going for that special effect, i.e., metallic powder coat that matches the car. Yes, it is more expensive, but that is also what will make it special in the end. Thanks for the input. Sure wish they made a Mag Red epoxy, it would save a lot in the end.
I use the Raggtop. I also bought a soft brush for interior leather from Griot's Garage for the top. You can't get too aggressive with the top as it will break the strands on the canvas.
Refer to your owner's manual. You will find the recommended oils there, and it does include 10W-30 in the list. Before my first oil change, I did a survey of all the synthetic oils and found that Amsoil 5W-30 had a much better 100 degree C viscosity then Mobil-1 5W-30 or 10W-30. I decided to...
Clutch was somewhat problematic with the stock motor, with 500 HP I hope they did some upgrades on the clutch. Some places may be reluctant to touch a modified car under warranty. Hope things work out for you.
In 2002, they upgraded the Z06 clutch because the 01's were so marginal. I don't...
It is my understanding that Mag Red II, Black and Pewter will be gone. Mag Red II will be replaced by a new somewhat darker red. Black will be replaced by a "Metallic Black".
GM has a limited number of Magnesium wheels available and have made the option available again until the stock runs...
Had a problem like this on my 90 that I had. I had to remove the ground from the battery and then run the ground through an amp meter to the battery to measure the current draw with everything off. Turned out to be the brake circuit. I am assuming the dealer knows enough to conduct a similar...
Not to mention, the CAGS almost got me rear ended several times coming out of lights or stop signs as the car slows down because it is in fourth or your funbling with the shift.
Is this something you have to do when you disconnect the battery for an extended period of time? Also, when you stated hold down lock/unlock, do you mean both buttons on the FOB simultaneously?
