We have a 2003 Envoy with an oil life monitor. It's last oil change was just at 1yr. The owners manual says when the light comes on or every year. Milage was just over 10K. We change it at home and get the mobil 1 at walmart in the 5qt containers.
Started running mobil 1 when it first came...
unplug the IAC then all you should get is curb idle set by the throttle stop screw. If you still have high idle you need to find the vaccum leak.
Then you can troubleshoot one or the other problems.

I just replaced a noisy one. Got it from NAPA. There was a slight headache. It was the same pump but the shaft was updated or replaced and it had smaller holes than those in my pulley ( you use your pulley) It had spacers but the bolts supplied were to short. If you don't want to make 2...
There is specific proceedure in the shop manual for checking end play.
From what I remember you support the spindle and put a dial indicator on the hub and pull it in and out.
You don't have to yank on it to check only the bearing end play. Everything else but the slight movement, as I recall...
I'm sure you can get a kit from NAPA. Have you taken it apart? A lot of aluminum master cylinders are badly corroded inside and need more than just a kit.

Just a side note. Correct TV cable adjustment is very important to the life of a 700R4. Using the TV cable adjustment is not the recommended way to adjust shift points from every GM manual I have ever read.

The bearing will fail long before it gets that much end play. You are seeing suspension wear. There's a camber rod on the bottom; toe tie rod assy; and 2 dog bone control rods. Most of them have rubber bushings.
Not to say the wheel bearings aren't loose there are specific tolerances for...
My 87 coupe has 216k miles.
It has never had a valve cover off.
No problems with the 700R4.
A little whine out of the rear end and the pinion seal leaks a little.
It has had at least 6 alternators (I've only bought one, lifetime warranty saved me 2).
All the wheel bearings were changed
u-joints...
I didn't quite understand about the car. From what I get it isn't a stock setup right? The reason I say emission equipment, cats have a very long warranty like 8 years or 80,000miles. So if it's a factory install look into getting them replaced under warranty.
If you have loose bricks in a...
I have had the DynoMax mufflers on my 87 for nearly 8 years. Until the cat plugged they had a decent sound. With out any cats they are a little loud for long trips but OK for around town. The tone suits me. It's not tinny. They are still more quiet than a 86 firebird with SLP headers and...
Sounds like you are a few oz. low on oil. See a light trail of oil above the compressor clutch? If you have good cooling they have oil charge in cans like the freon. Last ones I saw were 4oz. Feed it in until the compressor quiets down to some, it souldn't need a whole can.

After working in a tire shop I found the higher priced tires usually took less weight. The other factor is the wheel, I saw some aftermarket wheels that were way out of balance by themselves. Usually not a factor with steel wheels unless they are bent. You can have all the weight put on the...
R134a requires a different oil. If the mineral oil used with the R12 isn't changed R134a won't circulate oil in the system and the compressor with seize up. It's the smaller particle thing.
If the system will hold a vacuum, and it must for a shop to legally charge a system, change the...
I haven't followed your troubleshooting. I had an EGR trouble code and fianlly traced it to an intermittant EGR temp switch. All I ever did to make it quite was wiggle the wire and get the contacts cleaned off. It's been cured for about 3 yrs now.

I think you need to find the real problem! My orginal fuel pump lasted 12 years and 195k miles. Those pumps wear like iron, they're very simple, why do you think GM (who only changes because it's a cheaper way) went to them. Look at the Ractronic page on walbro pump and wiring upgrade. You...
If you tweak the bracket on the one side the nut is easier to get to.
Shut off the engine and pull on the vacum hose, you can tell if the booster is holding. If not most of what's wrong is the diaphram has a hole in it. Those plastic boosters are held together by the 2 nuts under the studs...
I can only say about the early 85-87 cars.
If your rod is light enough I wouldn't think the brakes would be a huge issue. Finding a rack that's not worn might be a challange, make sure it has both inner tie rods replaced. I've heard the later racks (88+) are better.
There are a greater...
There is a reason tire companies don't warranty any tire over 5 yrs old. They get hard as a rock. They won't hold wet or dry and they ride terrible.
Get new tires!

My 87 Bose system had common grounded speakers. To use the factory wire you need to figure out where to break them out at the orginal radio plug. I just opened up the amp/speakers and bypassed the amps and run right to the Bose speakers. They are only about 2ohms but my Alpine unit can stand...
