I thought my transmission was toast. It wouldn't shift from 2nd to third without coaxing.

I took it to a buddy's house, where we consulted the Corvette service manual. We also determined that it didn't happen if I wasn't in OD.

It turns out that all we had to do was adjust the throttle valve cable on the throttle body. What we did was similar to this: http://www.chevyhiperformance.com/techarticles/65138/

Shifts fine now.

Thought I'd share.

That is good info. Glad you did share, someone may have this same problem. It is a good feeling getting to the bottom of a problem with our vettes.

Thanks for Sharing

It's great when it's something simple instead of an R & R! I am sure the local transmission shop would have troubleshot the same thing, passed on a rebuild and sent you on your merry way!;) Also, thanks for the link to the article. Printed and placed in my binder.

THe adjustment of the cable was probably off by only a fraction.

Just a side note. Correct TV cable adjustment is very important to the life of a 700R4. Using the TV cable adjustment is not the recommended way to adjust shift points from every GM manual I have ever read.

It has gotta be hard to adjust shift points that way anyway. Just a tiny change makes a big difference in the way the transmission works.
