    New rubber bumper

Well my retainers were in a world of rust, so I have ordered a set of the rplacement "bolt-type" retainers that can be found in most catalogs. Haven't got them yet, so I have yet to find out if they work good. /Thanks, Johan

    New rubber bumper

Ok, anyone out there have some experience to share from installing a new rear bumper? (74 or later). I have bought a new replacement bumper from partsforvettes.com (flexible fibreglass), and after some minor touch-up it will soon be painted ready to bolt on. But, can i bolt it right on to the...

    1974 Distributor types

Huh, three different opinions... Placed an order yesterday On Corvette Central for a "standard" main shaft, maybe time to change it then, if you are certain in this matter Tom? But Tom, how come you never see three different shafts in the catalogs? Ecklers and Mid America have one type (and...

    1974 Distributor types

Well, I guess I'll go for a standard shaft then. I do have vacuum and single points (what is the purpose of dual points, by the way, are they used every secon time each? Because I guess you still use a single cable to trig the coil?), but I have considered to swithch to electronic ignition. The...

    1974 Distributor types

Yes it has a cable tach drive (it changed in '75). I was replacing the tach gear, when i realized that the shaft itself also had some damage, and i must replace that one aswell. Ecklers have just one type of shaft, while Zip for example have two types, standard and high-perf (same price), and...

    1974 Distributor types

I'm looking to buy a new distributor main shaft for my '74 with L-82 engine. Some vendors has just one type of shaft, while others have two; one for standard, and one for "high-perferformance" engines. What is the meaning of high-perf here, is it the BB or the L-82? (i.e. is there a difference...

    Power steering control cylinder

vmrod, Well, this can be a mess, I did it myself a month ago. First of all, the rod it self cannot be extracted. If the rod is damaged, I guess you need to find a new unit. The seals and washers are supposed to fallout as you remove the snap ring. Ofcourse they will not. I used a screwdriver, a...

    Emergency break console

You mean that under the padding i propably have a standard console? In that case I can just remove the cover and restore it to original for the cost of $0... Great! :-)

    Emergency break console

My emergency break console is a bit torn, so I'm looking for a new one. However, the consoles at Zip, Ecklers etc. seems to be made of plain fiberglass, but mine is covered with soft padding, just like the rest of the console. Can I find just the padding somewhere? I have not seen it in any of...

Power steering cylinder rebuild - Help!!

Anyone whos has experience of fitting a new seal kit to the power steering slave cylinder? I recently bought a new seal kit since my cylinder was leaking oil. The kit was two seals (rubber with metal reincorcment), and a snap ring. Dismantling my cylinder, I found (inside and out): Inner seal...

    Tie-rod end threads??

I'm not sure about that... If you look in an Ecklers catalogue for example, you can see that the left inner and right outer are the same, and the left outer and right inner are the same. But I have no clue wich way the threads are supposed to go....

    Tie-rod end threads??

Anyone knows if the outer tie rod end on the right side of the corvette is supposed to have right- or left hand threads?? I sure hope that it is right hand threads, cause I just got two like that (the shop must have messed it up), and I really need to change the right outer one...

    Engine idle speed?

I do have the right scale. I also had this thought about that it might infact be half of the actual rpm, but it doesn't say anything about it in the rpm meter instructions, and besides that, it is a combined rpm- and dwell angle meter, and it works fine for metering the dwell angle (using the...

    Engine idle speed?

I was going to set the timing on my L-82 this weekend, and in order to do so I first wanted to set the idle speed correct. I hooked up an external rmp-meter to get it right (my internal is broken), but got a bit surprised when it showed just 400 rpm... Well, it is supposed to be 900-950, but...

Can anyone tell me the GM part numbers for: -tach gear -tach gear button and -tach gear coupling on the single-point corvette distributors (i.e. up to 1974)?

    Seat frames?

Yeah, I think I have it all figured out now, actually the parts # for the seat frames are the same, at least for the seat back. The models with and without headrests were the 68 and 69 models I think. Actually I am now using a 69 driver seat in my 74, and I'll guess I will try to sell it cheap...

    Seat frames?

You mean the seat frame is different between left and right, or between 74 and 75? When I examine the my seats (the whole seats, not the inside frame), the only difference between left and right seems to be the seat back plate, which has a slight difference. The thing is, for my 74, I have a...

    Seat frames?

Does anybody know if... ...there is any difference between the seat frames of the early seventies models? (For example, the 74 has a metal detail at the headrest, but the 75 has not, but is the inside the same?) ...there is any difference between the left and right side of the seat frames of...
