I have a kit of seals for '79 L-82 but I didn't have the old ones on there to reference where they go back on. I have seen the catalog diagrams but was wondering if someone else had some good close-up pics of how they install.
thanks
I'm trying avoid using a pickle fork in order to seperate the valve from the Pitman Arm. I rented a souple of pullers from the autozone but their smallest one won't fit in the space between the valve (ball stud) and the frame.
Does somehave have a pic (or the size of) the puller used to remove...
Waterboy, Whatever happened with your clutch not disengaging problem.? I have the exact same symptoms with my new Luk clutch kit and rebuilt S-T10. Here is what I got:
I've got a Brand New Clutch and Rebuilt Transmission. I also took off the shifter and Linkage to clean it up and lube it. I...
I didn't mark which end goes to tranny and which end goes to diff. Does it matter?
I also don't know which halfshaft is the left one and the right one..How about these?
;)
Joe, Are you running Vortec Heads? I have a good source that says that 32 degrees is all that you should run with fast burn type heads.
I changed my vacuum can from ported to manifold yesterday and then did a recheck of timing. My initial is now @ 11- total is @ 32 with full advance in at 1800...
Thanks...The harmonic balancer is new as well..Although it slipping is not out of the realm. I don't know how to get the initial timing down below 20 and my advance to come in earlier. :)
Hello Guys,
I have about 100 miles on my newly rebuilt '79 motor and in a nutshell, I'm disappointed.

Rebuilt engine : L-82 Crank with Flat Top Hyper. Pistons. Bored over .020. Done by a reputable builder. I don't know...
Without tearing down the engine to measure, is there a way to determine the compression ratio that a car has?
I would like to know what I am running but don't have an idea on how to check it.
I recently installed new Weatherstripping onto the T-tops and this seemed to go pretty well. The problem is that the tops are somewhat difficult to install (expected) and there seems like there is a large gap between the 2 T-tops at the top center where they meet. I would guess a half inch. Are...
I don't know about Silver but for my doeskin on my '79 s/column, I used a spray can of a Rustoleum color (Sand) that was a very good match. I completely stripped the column first, primed it and then painted it. Since it was only sold as a Gloss paint I used a Matte finish clear coat on top of...
Yes, the little triangular piece that you see right in front of the hole for the shaft. Mine looks like that too . It is actually a Pin (stop) threaded into that hole. The replacement part on Volunteer Vettes web site looks a little different because it is not smooshed at the back like this one...
Nice, but these are way too expensive for my blood.
There are only so many mechanical parts on a shifter so I figure it has to be something incorrect with one or more of them.
I did find that my Reverse Lever Lockout PIN (mounted on the side of the shifter bracket was loose). This would...
