'79 BW Tranny
I am trying to do a shifter adjustment per the instructions in the manual.
I decided to try this:
Instead of trying to insert the adjustment tool into the notch while the shifter was mounted, I decided to take the shifter out. I then aligned the gates perfectly as if I was going...
Wade,
StingRay6974 may not specialize in interior parts but he is the Man around here for mechanical parts/service. He has helped me with a lot of parts on my '79.

When I got spark I had connected the disti. to the negative on the battery.
I cleaned the disti. hold down bracket and disti base as well.
I don't have a disti. gasket installed at the moment.
I have a polished intake as well.
not sure what else to try...
The newly rebuilt engine is on a stand and has never been fired before so I am just checking for spark now before that first start. I plan on running it on the stand before putting it in the car. I dont want to crank it until I know that it has spark.
Just trying to set static timing without...
I am building my engine currently and the book says to mark the balancer when #1 stops going up (heads are off) and then turn the crank the opposite direction until #1 piston stops going up- the halfway point is TDC. My new balancer's marker does not line up with 0 degrees for some reason so

Since I have the Super T-10 out of the car , I would like to go ahead give it a rebuild. I would like to do it myself but I cannot find any good docs or videos to use as a reference. I checked out 5 speeds.com and my GM shop manual but they don't offer much in the way of rebuild information...
Thanks Jack,

Brass Freeze Plugs
I am planning on using...
I called Scoggin Dickey and they said that this MHP-146 kit had been discontinued by S-P. Is there another comparable kit/brand that you would recommend?
thanks
My machine shop was showing me his Sealed Power catalog that has Engine Kits available based upon the amount of HP + Torque that you want. It includes everythng needed for a rebuild (hyperutectic pistons) all bearings, chain ,oil pump- also including the cam and lifters. For example, the Sealed...
Remember fellas: I am on a serious budget so no $2K heads for me.....
I'm not looking to build a monster but just something a little better than stock- say 275-325 HP....thanks for the tips so far...
I am a newbie so I don't really know all of the jargon yet as far as engine talk goes. Here is what I want to do:
I have a '79 L-82 that I have pulled. So far it has only been cleaned and checked by the machine shop. The shop recommends .020 over bore based upon what they saw. I would like to...
I bought a Remanufactured Distributor from Auto Zone.
The base of the shaft is seated in the hole but the shaft (distributor) will still rotate side to side even though I have the little C-Bracket up against the shaft and the bolt on tight. The only thing that I can figure out is that the base...
I went over and met Mike a few weeks ago and saw him working on that '73. He has so much knowledge about C3s that it needs to be bottled up somehow. After I saw the work that he had done on the other members cars I am convinced that I would go to Mike with any of my Vette needs. He also has a...
