    Rodent Protection

Bounce dryer sheets - my dad got mice in his boat at storage every year until we stuck them around the edges of the cover. No more mice. Now I use them around the Vette.

    Brake Pads

Thanks everyone for the advice. Ran down to Summit Racing and picked up the Hawks. I thought the warning squeak was coming from the front. Opened it up and they were low but not gone. Replaced the front, test drove, did the burnish routine. Darn, still squeaking. Opened up the back, pads...

Bad Water Pump on 94 LT-1

I also used some gasket adhesive, a very thin layer, on both sides of the gaskets. Then you have to very carefully fish the water pump into position past the air conditioning tubing. My brother manned the torque wrench and did what I would not have thought of: He first torqued all six bolts to...

Bad Water Pump on 94 LT-1

It's not too bad. Take your time. Worst part for me was the lower bolt on the driver's side. There are those who say you can get to it without pulling the power steering pump pulley. They would have to prove this to me. It is much easier to borrow the puller from Autozone and make it easy on...

    Brake Pads

Got to 33K with the originals - just starting to hear the warning squeaker.

    Brake Pads

It's time for brakes. What brand of pads do you guys recommend? I'd like some degree of high performance, but I want low-dust and nothing that's going to wear the rotors faster. Purely street use. Tell me what brands you like or dislike. Many Thanks!

    NXT froze

I did it again. Left my car supplies out in the cold garage. Brand new bottle of NXT was all separated. I shook it for a while and it seems like it mixed. Would you use it?

Water pump gaskets - Help !

It's exactly on the centerline of the motor. Here's the old one, it's been seeping quite a while. See the telltale orange crust and the black oxidation streaks coming out of the weephole? I think I got it in time. It's under here... All back together and ready for cruise night !

Water pump gaskets - Help !

Thanks for the encouraging words guys - I need them. What I really need to know is how to get the old gaskets off. I can't see or get anything in to the drivers side especially. ANY advice would be tremendously appreciated, I'd be done by now if it wasn't for this seemingly trivial...

Water pump gaskets - Help !

After about 6+ hours work the old pump is out. Had one heck of a time with the middle bolt on the drivers side. After searching found an old thread that said you can get to this bolt, which resides behind two hoses and the power steering pump pulley. Well I got to it, with a short extension, a...

    Water pump already?

Excellent info ! - I sure am glad to have a place to get this kind of detailed help! Did you guys also replace the o-ring on the spline behind the coupler? Should I buy the GM performance water pump? Are the gaskets separate? It is not clear from Summit Racing's web site whether they are...

    Water pump already?

Water pump is seeping just a little and the belt is throwing a line of coolant up under the hood. I didn't think at 31K miles I would be in for this, but maybe it is because the car sits for long thru the winters here?? It seems to stop after the engine warms up. But, I guess I'll do the safe...
