Groetings Peter, The TUeV is a -every-2-year deal here in Germany.. She has an appointment this week, but we (ie the garage) have to replace the main brake cylinder, the front brake calipers (and pads), swap tires front to back, exchange oil and filter and then check why the valves are doing...

Howdie Peter, am still around, but only check in once in a while. Too busy with earning a living. Car still alive, going for the TUeV on the weekend. We shall see.. Maybe the rest of the C3 Crew are all hibernating, sleeping, and only wake up in March? :chuckle :w Stefan

    Question: Power antenna 82 vette

Roger (?) welcome to the CAC!! You basically have to crawl under the driver side rear and unbolt it from there. It helps to take the wheel off so you can fit in there. The Service manual does show the repair/removal indeed, but it's not hard at all (If i managed to do this, anyone can :L)...

    '81 with '82CE rear glass

Sorry, completely OT, but.. Bob, so nice to see a pic of the NutMobile.. Always got a kick out of it.. :thumb OT Off. Mike (KY), glad you got that fitted. As others have said, go easy on the glass. Mine stays shut for most of the time, but, there is some hope for it, once i find time to...

Question: Need help with electric mirror on a CE to remove the glass part

Hi Buz, i believe they are affixed to a plastic frame. Some people use a carpet knife to unstick the mirror glass from the adhesive, but then you'd have to tackle the plastic backing as well. That is stuck to a 'trunion' a 4 post cross. Maybe someone has a picture they can link to show what i...

Thanks Mike. I have the AIM, i'll check on that too. Steve, thanks. I appreciate that.. Mhhh. Now i know what is involved. Breaking off the frame, that i can do. I happen to have a small bottle of Silver Beige leftover. Might just work for only the doors and large frame outside.. I'll keep...

    Rear Compartment Recommendations?

Hey Guys and Gals.. am thinking about replacing my rear compartment with a new one as my frame is split in a few places, the door frame is split and the little round handles (odd name for them) have been gone for a long time. As we're seeing family in October, i was thinking buying at one of...

Help! Power door locks will lock but won't unlock

Hey Mike, Usually what happens in mine is that the connections at the switch(es) either fall out (soldered before and now broke) or they arent connected properly anymore. Ie only one copper thin wire is hanging on a thread in the connector behind the door panel that connects to the switch in...

Review: Chevrolet Corvette, finally a legit Porsche killer from Detroit

I hope so, though the critics will detest the new interior as always :z :eyerole as well as other items. For whatever reason, facts dont seem to play into it here. I've pointed quite a few Porsche Lovers to the new one, and they go: Well, it's NOT a Porsche. Ahh ok.. Me Likey, if i had the...

    82 Air Cleaner Assembly

Hi HighFlyer, Welcome to the CAC.. In addition to what Kane pointed out, also bear in mind that the hood closes over the air intake hole of the assembly. Not sure what effect it would have if you chose a different style that would eliminate that air flow (Might even be for the better :L).. I...

Help! Power locks only unlock... ideas???

Usually, my experience is (and was as it happens all the time on mine) is that one of the cables cmes out of the 5 prong connector. Over the weekend i had my driver door apart and found one of th black cables (not the original color) was halfway out. It seems to have been sodered a while ago but...

Question: Driver Side Sport Electric Mirror (Outside) Nut question

Mike, i had the window all the way down and there was no room for any ratchet, swivel or not. Even my fingers wouldnt go into that hole, past the window. I see the hole through the inner door side, but that would necessitate the glass being out of the door. I tried with the window up as well...

Question: Driver Side Sport Electric Mirror (Outside) Nut question

ok, got a question for the experts: My LH (Driver side) Outside mirror is wiggling around when i drive as one of the screws lost it's nut. The entire mirror assembly goes up and down when i try and move it (not just the glass but the whole thing, housing and all). I removed the door panel and...

    Datastream-ing from 1226026 ECM

Steve, i am using Joby's WinALDL with the OBD1 cable to USB hooked up to my WinXP mini laptop to collect data. Am a PC geek, so that worked best for me to have the data on my PC to 'try' and read it. ;) :w -Stefan

    Datastream-ing from 1226026 ECM

Ahh, ok. Thanks Hib.. Yeah old style OBD readers work. Especially the software ones that I am using on an old WinXP laptop.. :) And now I learnt something too regarding the timing of the "real time" as well . Good point. :w

    Datastream-ing from 1226026 ECM

Kane, glad you're getting the data out, but stupid me is not sure why you couldnt with the 82ECM? I've plugged my car up to the laptop a few times and get data. :confused :confused Is there more then the 82 on a 84 chip? One tip: Dont leave the laptop on the passenger seat when you need to...
