Replacing the heater control valve with a manual shut off valve

I replaced the heater control valve on my 77, but it doesn't seem to be working properly, so I thought about sending in for a manual shut off valve, and using it instead. Anybody out there in Corvette land ever used one of these?

Temperature gauge going up and down

I owned a Chevy pickup with a 350. My temp gauge would fluctuate, but I wasn't alarmed. I was changing valve seals, and I notice one of my plugs was washed clean. When I removed the head I discovered a crack in the water jacket, and it was going out the exhaust. I probably could have driven...

Temperature gauge going up and down

My needle was bouncing around the other day, and it was a bad connection at the temp sensor. I pinched the connector to make it tight, and it's ok now. It wouldn't hurt to check.

    Installing new secondary metering rods.

I found metering rods also, but I would like to know which ones would be best for my engine. That's what I cannot find.

Installed long tube headers should I wrap the starter?

Thank you Tom, I did pick up a starter wrap w/velcro. It seems long enough to wrap it twice, but I can cut to length. Now the fun part is putting it on. I may have to loosen, or remove the starter, but it will be worth the effort.

    Installing new secondary metering rods.

I have installed a Edelbrock 2101 performer intake, and long tube headers. I would like to get better metering rods than the stock ones that GM mated up with the stock quadrajet. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Installed long tube headers should I wrap the starter?

Would wrapping the headers in these areas be as benefitial as wrapping the starter?

Installed long tube headers should I wrap the starter?

I would like to know what is too close, cause I'm an inch away.

Help! Hooker Side Exhaust Headers or standard headers:

I wrestled around with the side pipe issue, and I just installed long tube headers instead. I already had a good duel setup, and good Flow Pro chambered mufflers that are low restriction, and some call them down right loud. The problem is NOBODY CAN SEE THEM!!;) They sound beautiful, they...

Installed long tube headers should I wrap the starter?

I just got done installing long tube headers. I the collector about an inch away from the starter at the closest point. Will the starter have heat sink issues with the clearance I have?

Show raised white letters on tires, or not???

I have Cooper Cobra's on mine, and I like the raised white letters. They complement the car well in my opinion, and reminds me of days gone by.

Do NOT use the new DOT 5 Brake fluid!

As far as I'm concerned, being "anal" is the only way to fly.:thumb

Do NOT use the new DOT 5 Brake fluid!

I should have said "swells too much". I'm just going with what I was told.

Do NOT use the new DOT 5 Brake fluid!

Since I posted my original post I called the man I spoke with about the subject. I asked him to repeat what he told me. He also said it's ok to post the company name, and his name, so I will say it was: Muskegon Brake and Tire, Muskegon , Michigan, and the Man I spoke to is Jeff. Jeff told...

Do NOT use the new DOT 5 Brake fluid!

I was having a discussion with the manager at a brake company, and he said the EPA forced DOT 5 brake fluid to be reformulated. He said with in a week, the o rings will be swelled up, and ruined. I was told to use DOT 3 If I change out the fluid. This is bad news to me, but it would be worse...

I need info on side pipes

Well Tom, I was considering the ceramic coated ones cause the are supposed to be cooler, but I'm skeptical. As far as women getting burned, well I need something to amuse me :-):W There are three different baffles. Quite, medium, and loud. The ladder would probably suit me. Were yours...

I need info on side pipes

I am considering Doug's Headers side pipes very seriously, but I'm concerned about unintended consequences. I am thinking about the ceramic coated variety. Will they burn plug wires, heat the starter, and leak at the heads?

    Help! Manual vs Automatic

My 77 is a TH350 auto. It's a reliable, and I usually manually shift it, because I do not agree with the shift points. My biggest reason I would prefer a manual, as they are not as parasitic as an auto. I think autos use take away about 15 hp, while a manual is much less, but I don't know the...

Will a 245 60 15 tire fit in the spare carrier.

I have the same issue with the spare tire, cause I put 255/60's on my 77. This tire size is an option on 78-82 models, so it stands to reason they would offer a compatible spare, or a larger pan, but I don't see either for sale. I don't want to tear up my differential either, but I can't find...
