I just built my l98 up to a 383. As far as I know these 5.7 liter blocks need to have the lower cylinders notched in order for the rotating assembly to move freely. I ran the eagle I-beam connecting rods with no issues with clearance.
I've seen a few c4s with coilovers, not saying it was working for the car, but no complaints from the owner concerning problems with the shock mounts. So, I got home from work and went out and dropped the 10 inch bolts from the leaf. I threw on some 12 inch bolts and put it back together and...
I have already installed the extended rear bolts to drop the rear spring...not a lot of drop. So if I use longer bolts..? 12 inch rather than 11 inch? I'd like to get at least another inch lower in the rear.
I went and installed the longer bolts on my leaf spring thinking it would give me the stance I am looking for and bring down the rear end...it did not:mad. So, next step I believe will be coilovers. I've looked around and think I've found some decent ones. Before I make the investment, is there...
Went and got my engine punched out to a 383 and in the process got my plenum polished inside and out. Starting to put it back together and wondered if the runners could be wrapped in heat wrap in an attempt to keep the air going in to the engine a little cooler. I already bypassed the coolant...
Is there anything I need to do to the vette that might help it in this thinner air? It doesn't "sit" like it did in California when I got on the throttle. It just tries to take in air and isn't as crisp/responsive. I've had the battery unplugged as it's been in storage and I recently took it on...
Absolutely..! Everything in California is based on how the state can get more money. That's why I moved back to Utah to start my business. NO WAY I was going to try it in Cali.
It's been a bit since I've been on so I thought I'd post. The vette made it to Utah, thank you for all the advice to keep it safe during the transport. I got a great surprise when I went to find out if I needed to switch the registration over now or if I could just wait until this summer when I...
Would that industrial size plastic wrap work??? I was thinking of putting one layer around the hood and one layer around the Targa top. I worry though about moisture getting trapped. Am I being to paranoid? It is just 800 miles and one day on the carrier. Just don't want to find a stain in the...
I'm transporting it by semi car hauler. I requested that the vette be places on top and behind the lead car so that car can be used as a barrier for flying debris. Thank you for the link to the car wrap. I've been trying to find a wrap. My car cover I don't believe I can get it taunt enough to...
I'm looking for any advice I can get that might help make transporting the vette on an open trailer as painless as possible on both me and the car. I'm going to be moving the vette from California to Utah during snow and salt season. I tried to get it on an enclosed trailer, but one wouldn't be...
Starter was a bad rebuild. Ac delco gave me a full refund. I tried a mini starter but either the battery cables needed to be rerouted or if you turn it the other way the solenoid hit the cat. converter. So I went back to the factory ac delco starter( a different one) and it seems to be working fine.
Put a factory ac delco starter on and it didn't make it through 10 miles before it became heat soaked and failed. Just ordered a mini starter from jegs...lets try this again.
Going to start chipping away at my list of things to do beginning with the starter so I can at least get the vette running so I can start working on the clutch issues, again... Been looking around for a new starter and I'm seeing different mounting brackets on starters that all say they'll fit...
Time to start saving my pennies...again. Dealership pulled out of covering any of it. Is what it is and a lesson learned. Like always, thanks for all your feedback.
