Went and got my engine punched out to a 383 and in the process got my plenum polished inside and out. Starting to put it back together and wondered if the runners could be wrapped in heat wrap in an attempt to keep the air going in to the engine a little cooler. I already bypassed the coolant line going into the throttle body.

IMHO Leaving them exposed to the air will dissipate the heat,VW & Motorcycles been doing that for centuries. So wrapping them may have the opposite effect. The TB Bypass was good, did that on my old 85 & recently on the 93.

The heat moves from the manifold, the runners and the plenum to the air. Insulate the runners and you interferr with that cooling process.

Opps!!! Now that you mention it, ya, wrapping the runners sounds pretty stupid. My bad.
