    universal joint on half shaft

I agree, just do a search. In terms of difficulty, it's not that bad of a job really, I would rather do a half-shaft u-joint than a power brake booster. My suggestion is to do both u-joints, as long as you're in there. You'll need a very large vise to press out/in the u-joint.

    Question: A/C Issue

lt4man is right, your car probably uses r12. It is plentiful on ebay, I've seen it as low as $20 a can though. Anyone with a 609 certification can buy it.

    1990 corvette

First thing that comes to mind is the alternator, this is the weak link on this car and can cause all kinds of symptoms just like the one you describe. A failing alternator will not charge your battery properly, so what happens is that the alternator works overtime to charge the battery...

What do you want to see in the C7?

The c6 is a pretty good car as it is, and is so hard to improve on. But to stay on topic, I have said this before: I would love to see an electrochromic roof panel that allows you to choose how dark you want the glass. Electrochromic headlamps would be cool too, when they are off they just...

Question: Living with it every day

Chevrolet knew what they were doing when they redesigned the Corvette. The c4 wasn't a very practical daily driver, even though I drove mine every day. When they brought out the c5 and c6, it was obvious that their main goal was to make the car much more reliable, civilized and comfortable for...

Question: Trunion replacement on outside mirror

My mirror was rattling for a long time, the trunion fix was on my to-do list. I finally pulled the mirror off one day and the mounting screws were loose, I just tightened them back up and no more rattle.

    mi vette 91 restoration proyect!!

Wow, this is so cool. I hope to someday find a ragged-out 1990 roadster to restore. I really envy you, you have the room to take on a project like that. Keep up the great work!

how about the 1990 model year

I agree with Greg, the sport seats are very uncomfortable, although they are really cool looking. Anyway, even though I love my c6, my long-lost 1990 still has a special place in my heart. One issue peculiar to almost all 1990s I have seen is the inflatable restraint warning light. What...

What a crappy way to start my vacation.

The exact same thing happened to me once in my old c4. Strange sound coming from the alternator, I look at the back of the casing, and the bearing seal is falling apart, and there's like three little bearings left inside the thing, valiantly trying to keep the alternator running. I couldn't...

Question: Collapsed battery cell will take out the alternator?

This is a common problem on early c4s, because an alternator will work overtime trying to charge a dead battery, accelerating its eventual failure. This is why jumping a car should only be used as a last resort, to get your car home or wherever you need to go, because the alternator isn't...

    Help! Outer door seals

I had more trouble replacing those things than any other repair on my old c4, and I'm including the power brake booster replacement. It was infuriating, I broke one trying to get it on, so had to order another one. Took me two hours to do one side, and it never looked right when I was done, it...

    Rear Cargo Area Shade

Actually the shade and the cargo net are an option, you can order them from the dealer or get them online.

    Question: 90 Convertible Radio

Hmm, to me this sounds like an amp problem. The amps can be restored, and the cost would probably be less than buying new amps. Just do a web search on "bose amp repair" and a bunch of places pop up.

    Whew! Radiator cleaning.

I think last time I did this on my old c4 I just used some thread sealant on the transmission line, and it worked perfectly. And be sure to use a flare nut wrench, you don't want to kink that line.

    Rotor resurfacing necessary?

I've always just run my fingernail over the rotors and if I feel too many deep grooves I get them resurfaced, Napa will do this. This aint scientific, but I've been doing brakes for so long that it just comes naturally to me. Never had a problem with this method.

    Floor repair needed

Agreed, this is an easy repair that you can do yourself. Just follow the directions on the fiberglass/hardener kit, available from just about any auto supply store or even your local hardware store. Because it's a floorboard, it doesn't have to be cosmetically perfect, so this is something you...

    Question: bracing c-4 frame

There is an aftermarket x-brace available for c4 coupes, I don't want to mention the company or product because I don't want to look like a shill, but a web search should reveal it. If I understand correctly, the front bolt holes are already there, but you need to drill into the rear part of...

    Resonance-reduction material

If you want to reduce interior noise, it will require a comprehensive approach, since there are several places where road noise comes from: floor pans, doors, rear deck, wheel wells, console, etc. I venture to guess that you won't notice much of a difference by targeting just one of these...

    JEGS air foil $69.95???????????????

After you've been around corvettes and corvette people for awhile, you start to see trends come and go. Not that long ago, everyone and his brother was crowing about how much the air foil improved their car's performance, that it ran better, idled better, had more horsepower, etc. I just sat...

    Removing a C4 Dash Top

It's fairly easy to remove it, but harder to get it back in. Here's how I did it: remove the two long screws in the defroster outlet in the front center of the dash, then remove all the screws just underneath the very front of the dash pad, I forget how many there are but they are pretty easy...
