    Replacing in-dash tachometer

Elliott, I am not so sure that changing the tach is going to be piece of cake you think it is. I have had the dash out of my 73 and it is pretty involved. The instruments come out from the back side and the dash has to be removed to pull the instuments. I am not fully familiar with a 79 but I...

    Anybody seen one of these?

A few days ago I saw a full color crossed flags steering wheel emblem overlay on a 2004 Z06 CE Vette. This was not a decal but a very nice looking high gloss overlay similar to a dash or console overlay. The car was in a speciality used car dealer showroom and the dealer did not know anything...

    Help! I need tires!!!

I was torn between Kumhos and Michelins. Went with the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S on the recommendation of my local Chevy dealer. Love the tire. Smooth and quite. Holds balance well and great traction. I have about 23M on them now with loads of tread left. Lookingfor 40 - 50M out of these tires.

Question: Vanity Mirror problem on visor

Hey Man, Just saw your post, sorry to be tardy with a reply. I had the same problem with the passenger vanity mirror on my 01. The method of securing the vanity housing to the visor is indeed a poor design. I went to Home Depot/Lowes and bought a roll of heavy duty doublepstick tape. I...

    Distributor not working with Tach

After thnking about the two aforementioned choices you will probably conclude that the easiest (time wise and aggrivation wise) and the least expensive will be to change the distributor, and you would be correct.

    Odometer on 1969

Hey Guys, I am looking at a 1969 Corvette Convertible as a potenital purchase. It is a 350 hp 350 cu in, 4-speed, factory side pipe car. Speedometer and Tach are supposedly factory meters. The face of the speedometer shows 160 mph and has the mechanical odometer and trip meters. The thing...

    JBA Headers

Points well taken Jagger. Thanks for the input. There are always tradeoffs in upgrades. I will probably stay with what I have.

    JBA Headers

Hey Guys, Have any of you had any experience with the JBA stainless steel headers. I am considering a pair for my '01. They are supposed to be a direct replacement for the factory manifolds and claim improved fuel mileage among other things. Other than looking great is there any real benefit...

Solution to deck lid only popping open 1/4" !

Very True, We don't have the winter temps here you guys do in south Florida. To be perfectly honest, I ordered a spring kit yesterday myself.

Solution to deck lid only popping open 1/4" !

Hey Guys, If you don't want to spring for the cost of the fix just remember to push the hatch release as you exit the car and as long as your windows are closed the hatch/trunk will jump up at least 1 inch when you close the doors --- just a thought!

    RADIO PROBLEM

Hey Man, I strongly suggest you check out your speakers first. I spent about $500.00 having my original radio gone through, turned it on and.....nothing. Turned out both dash speakers were shot. My radio is AM/FM no stereo.

why is this part so much $ ?

Now you know why salvage yards and thieves strip cars and part them out!! Makes sense to me.

    73 wheels/tires

Tire sizes can be tricky. You need to check with your tire supplier concerning today's tire sizes vrs. tire sizes in 1973. Todays 70 series tire is taller than the original GR70X15s that came on your car. All of the big tire stores have a table that compares the circumferance of todays tires...

    ZDDP Additives for older vettes

Hey Guys, I'm sure this topic has been discussed before and I have just missed it, so please bear with me. I have read a couple of articles lately about motor oils and the lack of ZDDP additives in todays oils. According to the articles the omission of this additive can be particularily...

    Outside Mirror Repair

Hey guys, I remember a thread where someone was telling how to repair an outside rear view mirror. I am talking about a chrome side mirrow on my 73. It was an old post when I read it over a year ago. It described how to soak the head of the mirror in lacquer thinner overnight and the glass...
