    Question: Poly vs. rubber bushings

Given that logic (which I am not questioning) it is stunning the number of manufacturers that supply "upgraded" adjustable strut rods with poly bushings. Like you I too am in Southern California so cold is not an issue:). I have installed poly-graphite bushings in a number of 1st gen Camaros...

    Replacing speakers in an '82

Ours still has the stock AM/FM/cassette and does work (it's nice no one hacked up the car to install aftermarket stuff). I am having difficulty verifying if the stock system would still be 10 ohms as in years past - can anyone verify this? The dash speakers say Polk (keep forgetting to check...

    Question: Poly vs. rubber bushings

Going to do the strut rods and control arms on the '82. Opinions on using polyurethane or rubber bushings? In the 1st and 2nd gen world the opinion, by and large, is to use rubber these days...poly has a lot of detractors. In reading in various spots and looking at vendors products it seems...

    Help! 1982 TPS help please

Both of those responses are very helpful.:thumb I was certain I had read that power-in was full and constant 12v (obviously I was in error) so knowing that I am good at ~5v is a relief. :) Had not considered that it may not be a linear relationship. When I started to do this I was prepared...

    Help! 1982 TPS help please

Went to check the setting on the TPS today. Signal wire shows .624v at closed position. Ran it through the range of motion and at WOT it showed just 4.25v. To further complicate things the hot wire is showing just 5.08v. Before I start messing with a car that runs and drives thought I...

'82 power steering control valve and cylinder

Pretty sure it is from the valve itself...May pressure wash to see if I can get a better picture of what is occurring. The power cylinder is definitely leaking past the shaft. A friend has a shop so I was able to get it on a lift yesterday and he was able to give it the once over with me. He...

'82 power steering control valve and cylinder

Got a good look at the aforementioned items today. Both are leaking significantly. Is it better to rebuild them? Buy reman'd units or spring for new pieces? Recommendations on brand, etc. Welcomed.

    Just picked up an '82

It has two little allen set screws at right angles to one another. It might be a CB antenna but it really looks like an autozone special. Keeping it in place until I sort out what's underneath, what's missing and what I need. It's better than a big whole in the fiberglass (which is what a '74...

The radio that is in there is a Delco unit...AM/FM Cassette. I don't see any obvious signs of a CB being installed. For what should I look? I figured that antenna looked like an add on by whichever PO did the art work on the emblems.:L

Here are some photos of the car. We gave it a good cleaning this past weekend. The only significant piece of body damage I have a full side view but the site is telling me my file size is too large...even though I am using a remote storage site to host the photos...hmmmm There...

LOL I am really approaching this car as a driver and not a restoration project but there are some things with which I cannot live. These would be two of them: Front Rear New ones enroute:)

Yeah, a heat gun would be just a little sketchy in my view. I was afraid it was going to be a fish line solution. Someone prior to me colored in the emblems, assumably to make them look fresh...it didn't work. They look like a six year old took their paint set to it. I'll post photos later.

Yeah, they do seem to be out there on EBAY . Now that I know that it is truly a one year only piece (thanks for that gang:thumb) I've been scouring EBay . Even for that venue there is a silly range of pricing. Managed to find some for reasonable rates though. I know the gas door is fastened...

LOL - yes, an AIM is on my list of gets. On Camaros a lot of interior pieces are not covered by the AIM as Fisher Body handled all of that prior to passing it through the wall to Chevrolet. I assume this was not the case with Corvettes by '82?

Thanks for the link. Before I started this thread I was having a hard time getting a handle on whether or not they were specific to that year. I hate to trust EBay vendors till I know my own facts;) Looks like that will be my source for front and gas lid emblems though.

OK, good point. until now I wasn't 100% sure there was an inner and an outer:). Yeah, gotta get that console apart to see what's what...and I agree about the emblem...maybe the repop companies figure there are more people willing to spring for parts for a Collectors Edition....who knows.

Thanks for the welcome!:) Paragon is a dead end on the emblems too. Everyone has the special edition emblems in repop though...unfortunately it's a base car. Taking the console apart this weekend just looking for an angle before I dive in...LOL. Thanks for the input.

Hi! Obviously new to the forum and relatively new to Corvettes. I've done a lot with 1st and early 2nd gen Camaros (have several of each at the moment) and have a '70 Corvette project that was dumped on me by a friend in 1000's and 1000's of pieces. Picked up an '82 base car last week in very...
