unplug the ground connections on the frame near the front of the engine and check for corrosion. check this website for a picture. http://www.ccwp.org/pages/news_motorman.shtml#C5%20Throwing%20Codes
if the header flange is ground smooth you will have problems with sealing. you need a projection to "bite" into the gasket to make the seal. also sawing the header flange into sections will help. i have used a wire welder to lay a bead around each tube on the head side of the flange to give the...
i have changed mine 2 times so far and both times it took 5.5 quarts with filter. park it on the level over night and check the oil level first thing in the morning before you start the engine because 1.5 quarts over will show on the stick.
with all my C-5s and my C-6 with the orignal GM battery i can leave the car set for 4 weeks when i go to fla. for a month of feb. for the NASCAR races and when i get back the corvettes would start. since i am not driving the corvette i always full charge the battery before i leave. i charge the...
they use the dark color in rear to prevent a reflection in the rear hatch glass. my 02 with a torch red interior and a torch red mat in the rear cause such a reflection in the hatch glass it could not see out the rear unless i pulled the luggage cover in place
if you find the front end "plowing" in the turns disconect the front bar. it will turn in so fast it will scare you. do this only on slower autoXs. this applies to all corvettes not just ZO-6s
you can only drive one at a time and after you drive a C-6 you will never want to drive around on 6.75X15 tires again. i have owned most all series of corvettes and i would never go back. JMHO
trade it in on a C-6 as that is one of the features i like of the C-6 over the C-5. since my 72 year old eyes are not what they used to be the C-6 lights are a blessing
i have been telling C-5 owners this since i picked up my C-6 sept 2004 and several did and got the fever. i saw were C-5 owners posted the C-6 was a C-5.5 but they had not driven one yet. every C-5 i bought was better than the former BUT the C-6 was a very BIG step up
i just returned from R-A and the C6-Rs finished 3rd and 4th behind the A/M because they had to do a front brake calipher change as the added weight penalty is now causing them brake problems.
if you are close cut the vent tubes on a 45 degree angle as most all corvette carbs have. the way to check is to slip a piece of rubber hose over the vent tube that is 1/2" longer than the vent and then set the air cleaner top to see if it will go all the way down
there is dried oil residue in the shaft which increase the diameter and you will need to spray something like brake cleaners to soften it up so you can pull the shaft thru the bushing
