Hey guys, not sure if this is what the part is called but it is the part of the clutch linkage that attaches to the block and a 1/4" or 5/16" bolt with lock nut on the other end. It seems to me that the end with the bolt has alot of play, allowing the cross shaft to move front to back before it...
Hey Jabby if I remember correctly the diameter of the original wheels and tires were some where around 28.3". I'm sure someone on here knows for certain. I also have too much height but I have shed so much weight off of mine I will need lowering springs.
Hey guys does the fuel tank on my '74 coupe need to be vented? With no charcoal cannister I plugged the plastic valve on the top left side of the tank. Twice since I have gotten the car running it has bogged down and stopped running after heavy acceleration. Restarting after sitting just 30...
Hey guys thanks for the replies. The previous owner replaced the originals with stainless steel units in the early '90s didn't drive it much, about 4000 miles till I bought it in 2001. I drove it about 2000 miles till catastrope engine failure (I blew it up) in 2007 when I began this off frame...
Hey guys, anyone know of any tech articles/step by step for rebuilding the calipers on my '74 coupe? Did a search does everyone just replace them?
Thanks
Hey Jetset, I switched out my stock points dist. for an HEI with a mech tach drive. Works great. I know of guys that have installed '75 tach in dash dropped in a HEI plus tach filter and they had no trouble. It was easier to buy the mech drive dist. than change out the tachs
Hey guys, Trying to assemble the front bumper area on my '74 coupe after having the body off for 3 years. There are a few things that it didn't have when I took her apart. The rods. That is how they are id'd in the assembly manual. They are 3/8" threaded on one end flattened with a 5/16 hole in...
Hey guys, thanks for the replies. We discussed shimming and the need to get the door gaps uniform. He definetly was specific about maintaining a min clearance between the frame and the body for the afore mentioned reasons. He said he always has to look it up when he does a body mount...
My guy said a min distance needs to be maintained between the frame and the body so different components work and fit properly (i.e. getting to top bellhousing bolts, shifting properly on manuals). He said to measure at the #4 mount area. It is suppose to be published somewhere. I have the...
Hey 6880, I was mistaken I got these mounts from Eklers. I found the shipping sheet. I got the answer from a local restoration guy here in town. What he didn't have is the min. distance between the frame and body. Any ideas?
Hey Evo, thanks for the try. I did a forum search before posting but didn't find anything. I admit I didn't read them all. I'll call VBP in the morning. They will have the answer.
Mikey, there is a reason that cars come in different colors. Not everyone does things the same way. I've been a...
Hey guys, After almost 4 years I put the body back on the frame of my '74 coupe. All of the #2 and 3 mount had disentegrated on removal. Plus the replacement poly mounts from VBP don't look a thing like the assembly manual. Do I put the conical half in the body? One half has a lip and seems...
Hey Teapot, do some research, call March. You need to make sure that the pulleys line up. Are you running A/C? Can you run a long style water pump. If you're ok with eliminating the stock style cooling fan then alot of options open up.
Hey guys, while I had the body off the frame, the front fender on the passenger side started to pull away from the main body just under the windshield frame. Any suggestions on how to secure it. Should I do it before or after setting the body?
Thanks
Hey Johnrem, never a good thing. Good possibility that you have wiped a lobe on your cam. Maybe it's a stuck lifter but if so now your cam is questionable. Maybe your rocker arm stud stripped. Until you start taking it down you won't know.
