    Head Light issues...

Any weird grinding noises? Can you see them at least attempting to move? I am only guessing here, but maybe with the hood up, less effort is required to make them rotate, and a stripped gear is able to get the job done. Or, as i recall, the plastic gears are filled with a heavy, viscous...

    Power seats problem

Davey, did you ever get this resolved? I recently pulled the drivers seat to fix the parking brake, and now I have the exact same problem you reported. To recap, with the center console seat switch in either the Driver or Passenger position, only the driver-side seat moves. Thanks, Barry

    LT4 96 LT4 I just bought...

Yup, the bleed screw located on the thermostat housing is the key. I just installed a DeWitts all-aluminum radiator, and went through the process. Loosen the bleed screw up a couple turns when you start pouring the new coolant mix in. When the reservoir is full, close the bleeder and put...

    Rear tire has a wiggle....

The top to bottom wiggle is wheel bearings. Side to side might still be bearings, but might also be toe rod bushings.

    black strip bumper trim????

I think Ecklers and Mid America both offer something specifically for that. As I recall, it looks like a show polish applicator. Heck, I think Griot's has something also.

Just curious...Do your nuts hang low?

Aaawww, nuts.... I agree with Junk, nuts up. Sadly, even knowledgable Corvette shops with national recognition get it wrong. I had to correct mine with my own two hands. OK, that didn't come out right.....

Strange thumping noise from from end?

Flat spot on just that one tire? Doesn't seem likely, but.... ;shrug

89 vette overheats after 10 minutes????????

I would agree with the air pocket idea. I've had that happen to me after I've dumped and refilled the cooling system. Does the temp spike very rapidly? If so, then the cooling system just needs to have the air bled out of it. There's an air bleed screw on the thermostat housing of my '96...

Third wheel bearing in 4 years

I am in the same boat with rear wheel bearings. I am fortunate to live near the Guldstrand shop, and took the car in to them. They identified excessive side play in the differential, and it was their opinion that was my problem. Well that, and the track days! :L I had them repair the...

    88' Anniversary Owners White Wheels

Well, my wheels aren't white, but they are painted Sebring Silver to match the car. Simple Green easily cuts through the brake dust, and my brake pads make A LOT of dust! Barry

    New (to me) 1996 Corvette

Welcome, and congratulations on your purchase of a particularly fine looking automobile. :cool Other than keeping the opti-spark dry, there are no real gotchas with this car. Make sure you have a good four-wheel alignment done to minimize wear on the tires, and I would replace the engine...

    '96 Service/shop manual(s)

Hmmm, I'd call them. I ordered mine through them, but I just don't remember having any question about it being the right thing.

    Working on your C4...

I do quite a lot of my own work in the engine bay. I've replace every componant on the front of the block (water pump, Opti spark, power steering pump, alternator, etc), and done the basic tune up with new plugs and wires. It's a little daunting at first, but dive on in there and you'll find...

    '96 Service/shop manual(s)

Yup, that looks like them. 1996 is a two-volume set, with book two only covering engine and trans. Good luck!

    racing tires advice needed

Hi. I've been doing track days with my '96 for three years. I'm still running street tires, and having a great time! Until your skill levels come way up, you really don't need R compound tires. It's my opinion that you will learn better driving skills on street tires than on R compounds...

    B&B owners step in!!!!

I have the 3" system on my '96 LT4. The resonance from 1500 to 2000 RPM is fairly annoying. The solution of course is to keep it over 2 grand! :) The sound is great! Sorry, I don't have any sound clips for ya. Never had the car on a dyno, but the seat-o-the-pants dyno says it pulls...

    Guldstrand Visit (long)

Guldstrand Visit (update) Well, got the car back on Friday, and it is sooooo nice! The steering is nice and tight, and the poly bushings make the car ride smoother. A little firmer too, but that’s not a bad thing. Too soon to tell about the diffy, but I’m no longer hearing some of the noises...

That's a great clip! Thanks for that.

    Guldstrand Visit (long)

Well, quite a treat for this relative newcomer to the Corvette world. I live and work near Dick Guldstrand’s shop in Burbank, CA. I’ve known his name and reputation as a racer and car builder for many years, but when it came to repairs on the Vette, I never really considered his shop...

    Power steering pump

To answer the origianl question, I'd rate it about a 7 1/2. Not really difficult, but you have to remove some things to get to it! Good luck.
