    Tirepressure?

on the street, I run 30. At the track (road course), I start at 35, then adjust based on how it feels. Barry

cruise control help on 1990 vette

check to make sure that the switches on the brake and clutch pedal arms are closed. On my car, the clutch pedal switch had wiggled out of the bracket far enough that the cruise computer thought the clutch was always pushed in.

    Long strange trip...

Well, I finally finished getting my new B&B 3 inch exhaust system installed. Man, that sounds great! Loud, but great! I could not get the tips to stay where I wanted them though, they kept twisting away from horizontal. Finally had to have some spot welds put on the joints to keep them from...

    Replaced rear wheel bearing

I have had my '96 LT$ for three years, and I just put in the third set of rear bearings. I do a lot of track days with the car, and the bearings just don't hold up to the abuse. I've used AC Delco and the cheapies both, and neither of them lasted. Several members of the forum have suggested...

    Found a 1996 Collectors Edition..

I bought the first car I came across when I started my search two years ago. Haven't regretted it for even one minute. It just happened to be the same car you're looking at, although with higher mileage!

    P/S pump replacement - tips?

Once you get the pulley off, it's easy. I bought the puller/installer kit at Autozone for something like $30. The toughest part is getting to the hose fitting on the rack. Damn near impossible to get a wrench in there. I had the best luck coming in from the front of the car, over the rack...

    After market wheel hubs?

Jay, When you replace the rear bearings, what do you torque the rear wheel nut to? Lately, I've been over-torquing them to 200 lb/ft, and they seem to last longer. I don't autocross, but I run a lot of track days with the car. Thanks, Barry

    Aluminum pedals ?

I mounted Sparco racing pedals, mainly to get the gas pedal closer to the brake for better heel/toe action. I took the rubber pads off, and drilled and tapped the brake and clutch pedals to mount the covers. The gas pedal is plastic, so I drilled a couple holes and used two small...

    Coupe Water After Washing

Lot's of comments here about blowing the water out, and I tried that, but found it actually drove some water into the car! My wet/dry shop vac does a much better job of sucking up the excess water, and doesn't blow water into the car or all over the outside! Barry

    What do you think?

Yeah, I'm thinking rad cap. I seem to have to replace mine every year.

    Highway exit-ramp...

Oh man, that's nasty! That's exactly why I started going to the track- the fear of doing something like that. On the street, I run my GS D3's at 31 pounds, and between 36 and 38 pounds on the track.

putting Z51 Bilsteins on my 91, have questions

I did the same thing- put the Z51 shocks on my base-suspension car. It's a little bit stiffer, but not too stiff. I also upgraded the sway bars. But, well, changing the shocks shouldn't affect the alignment. If you already have a good alignment, you shouldn't need to get it done again after...

    Highway exit-ramp...

JohnnyC, If you would like to explore the limits of your car in a (relatively) safe environment, get thee to a racetrack. Do an Internet search for track days, and you'll likely find a group putting on events in your area. Instructors are usually available and they can help you work towards...

    Buying shocks for 1994 coupe.

What part doesn't fit? Are they too long or too short? Wrong ends?

    Brake noise

The HP+ pads will squeak and squeal, and make lots of dust. That’s the price you pay for great stopping power on the track. Lots of guys have two sets of pads, one for street and another for track. Personally, I just learned to live with it during track season, and switch to HPS for the...

    auxillary power under console

I wired in a 12-volt VCR and a lipstick cam to record my track sessions, works great! The harness to the VCR and camera makes a neat bundle that is easily unplugged when I pull everything out. I don't leave the rig in the car all the time, but occasionaly it stays in the car, connected, for a...

    1996 fuel filter replacement

Froggy, when you say on top, do you mean up where the two lines pass over the intake plenum? I'm having the same problem as Chetzki. Thanks!
