I blew an upper radiator hose earlier this summer. After putting new hoses on, I refilled the radiator with coolant following the procedure that I found on here. Anyway, now after driving long enough to get to operating tempature, after I stop, I here gurgling\boiling sounds in the cooling system. I believe that I bled the system and everything, but why would it make the gurgling\boiling sounds after I shutdown? Oh, by the way it is a '93

Thanks,

Gary

Are you losing any coolant ? How hot did it get when you blew the hose? If it got to hot you may have a leaking head gasket or cracked head. I am not familiar with the the LT 1 engine , it could be some air somewhere in the system. Someone that is familiar with it may have more ideas.

I am not leaking any coolant. I also am not getting any coolant in the oil, or in the exhaust. Just the gurgling\boiling sound. When I am on the highway, the temp runs about 193. Driving around town it goes up to about 210 - 220. I have bled the system using the bleeders valves.

are you sure you have the system full? turn the heater on and that will take some coolant and my need some re-filling. take the rad cap off, start it, if you have coolant pushing out you have a bad head gasket. but i think you need more coolant or air in system. how long since you change the T-stat. or even a new rad cap.

Yeah, I'm thinking rad cap. I seem to have to replace mine every year.

If you have a boiling sound, you have air. As suggested turn the heater on and bleed the system again.
