    Another power steering question

Hi Ken, yeah I tried that this weekend, still leaks. I have two things yet to try before I give in and buy a hose. First, I want to try a slightly larger O ring- same ID, but larger OD. The other thing is, I can't get 55 lb/ft of torque on that fitting like the book suggests, because I can't...

    Another power steering question

Folks, I know this has been posted to death, but please bear with me. I have a power steering leak right where the high pressure line goes into the top of the pump. The fluid is actually coming up between the steel pipe and the threaded fitting that holds the pipe to the pump. I removed the...

NE one happy with a personal lift?

The other option worth considering is a scissors-type lift. There is some reduction in access to the center of the car. Here's one that I found, but there are other, smaller, versions out there as well. http://www.e-autolifts.com/scissor/scissor.html Barry

NE one happy with a personal lift?

I don't have one yet, but I think I would also prefer the two-post type lift. Check the Garage Depot section down in the General Corvette Forums. Lots of good info there. Barry

    Electric water pump

All, please forgive my ignorance. I've had this car for two years. Never had to tear into the front of the engine, but all this time I was sure it had an electric water pump! I spent some quality time with the service manual tonight, and dang if that thing isn't driven by a gear drive off the...

    Electric water pump

Folks, this thread has me really confused. :confused I need someone to set me straight! I thought all LT4s came with an electric water pump. I had to double check my beast, and damm it sure looks like an electric pump. And the replacement pumps I see on Ebay are electric as well. Was this...

How To Service a K&N Air Filter?

I have used Simple Green to clean my filter, but I don't know what the long-term affects will be. I have done it twice now, and haven't noticed any shrinkage of the cotton fibers. A gallon of the K&N cleaner is around $26, so I'm willing to try the less expensive cleaner. My .02. Barry

    1996 left-side cat

Tim, thanks again for your help the cat problem! And thanks to everybody else that chimed in. I wound up finding a local salvage yard with a '95 cat, and it bolted right in. She passed the smog test (sniffer and visual), and I can continue to drive her on the streets of California! Barry :w

    1996 left-side cat

Guys, thanks for your responses! Steve, yeah you're right, it does look the same. I just can't tell for sure if it has the O2 sensor bung in the right place. Ecklers says that it does, but I'm just trying to verify before pulling that trigger. My question was to someone with a late-model C4...

    1996 left-side cat

Hi all, I need to replace the left-side cat on my '96 with the LT4, and am having trouble locating one that won't require me to mortgage the house! A used piece from one of the Vette-only recyclers is $300. My question is this- does anyone know if the left-side cat is the same for all the...

    Weird Frontend Problem

OK, this is gonna sound strange, but my front plastic air dam always scraped on the driveway, until I put the new Z51 Bilsteins on. Suddenly no more scraping! Maybe your gas-pressure shocks leaked over the winter? ;shrug Barry

u joint or wheel bearing ?

You don't have to get the u-joints from the Chevy dealer, but you do need to make sure you get the right Spicer part number. I found mine at a heavy equipment supply shop!

    Lowering Kit?

Chris, Remember to get it re-aligned after you make any height adjustments. I did the rear-only change. It does make a difference in the way the car looks. Barry
