If that car is numbers matching you've got something special there. It could be a good one to keep original. I think the Big Block C3's are going to have some strong value in the next few years (even the Elephants). My car is a base L48 Coupe with about 5 options and a half a million + miles...
Good choice of car!
Somewhere out there is an old article (I think by Greenwood) describing how to drive an early C3, try to find it and follow the instructions.
No one ever called my '69 a "Bottom Feeder" before, in the '80's it was called "The Red Headed Step Child of Corvette's" more than once. As time went on people quit making fun of the early chrome bumper cars in favor of picking on the later C3's. ;LOL Now it's your turn! I no longer own the...
The really scary part about my '69 is that my Dad didn't and does not believe in servicing cars. The first rear diff service didn't come along for my car until sometime in the early '80's, that'd be well after the first L48 died in late 1978 at 210,000 miles. Tar came out. At this point I'm...
My Dad bought my car new when he was in his late 30's. I'm here to say he didn't baby my car. He kept it looking nice but burnouts were fair game. With the crappy tires of the day, the old L48 (Automatic) could really light that trash up. Then came the teenage son (me) to take over. To say I've...
A '72 iin Vegas with AC is a torture chamber, I couldn't imagine doing that run without AC. :eek When you have everything out be sure to put lots of insulation everywhere you can. I run my Vette to the desert a few times a year, it's so hot I've had to get out of the car and take off right...
:ohnoes
Nearly $55k in mine, good thing I didn't do the frame off.
I suggest you get a credit card with a higher limit.
$10k for the motor and surrounding stuff (rad, ignition, headers, exhaust)
$3k for all new ac with r134 and a big pusher fan (included a new suitcase)
$12k for paint...
Excellent link, the C4 squirrel cage sounds like the trick. I'll believe it blows like a tornado when I see it though.
I think I need to tape up my ducts as well, I don't think the shop did that when the car was apart a few years back. I hate climbing under that dash but I'm gonna do it...
I don't know if the unit I had included a more powerful motor or a bigger squirrel cage...
But that sounds like it's on track!
When it gets up to 82 here in So. Cal. we think it's the end of the world. I'll follow that up and maybe take a stab at it.
Maybe I'll run across the SOB with the...
I had some issues with pressure causing flooding or starving. It was a combination of a non vented gas cap and a kink in a return line. (Early C3's require a vented gas cap)
Years ago I put a high performance blower motor in my '69. It was stolen out of my car about 10 years ago, stock blower motors were the only replacements available, so it's been back to stock for a decade.
Is there any such animal available these days?
I'd sure like to get anohter one...
Put it in a well publicized auction (not Barrett Jackson) that European dealers are known to attend. Pay for a premium time, have the car completely professionally detailed. Weeks prior to the auction place ads in several different craigs lists (and any other free web sites you can come up...
