    I'm getting hooked on Auto-x...

Might have to nix that last part, rules say any replacements have to "standard parts". So re-valved and stiffer controlled shocks did not come from the factory so...maybe not. I don't intend to ever reach any kind of level that might affect regional or national things for the SCCA. Still I...

    I'm getting hooked on Auto-x...

For better or for worse, I ran my first ever event in mid August, I just did my 4th one last Saturday. It is a ton of fun, and I am learning a LOT, both about the car and me. Kinda of funny but the more I use my Corvette in motorsports and drive it too, the more I really love this car. It proves...

    My bad, missed that, continue....

1992 Lt1 temperature running very high

I am willing to bet that you have air in the system and that is your only problem. The procedure is in the Owners Manual, as well it can be found in the FSM. Field Service Manual. While replacing the t-stat and lower hose is a good idea. I think the real problem is you have air in the system...

Auto-x in the Rain (lots of pics) Sorry no Go Pro videos yet...someday.

I'm tired of the rain around here so I said, screw it, I'm going anyhow. Rained the entire time, a cold one at that. 45 degrees. The SCCA chapter I am running with has a new venue. One that is for our use and will be kinda like a "home base." A private airport that was not in use. Had it...

    Question: 93 distributor

Probably and only let it pull vacuum for like 3 minutes then move on.

    1989 C4 Code 14 Hard Cold Start

Good Job, beats throwing parts at it.

Question: 1995 Right rear wheel hub

I would learn from this expierence and in the future even if it is a drive go see Junkie for your Corvette needs. He definitly seems like a A+ guy. Anything to make a nickel....stupid. Greed is the root of all evil.

    Question: 93 distributor

A line broke but you need a a/c compressor??? What? 4hr job that thing is so easy to get it is stupid. The lines are nothing special either. You might want to (from the sounds of it) find another guy to work on your Corvette.

    Question: 93 distributor

NO reason not to go to the vented opti just a different cap?, and the harness. If the harness is available it is a "bolt on" easy install, I think. I know if my Opti ever goes that is what I am going to do. Even if I have to make it myself. I agree with you John on the parts changer thing...

    91-96 corvette Quality

The 94-96's being the last of the breed so to speak had the issues mostly resolved by then. That being said the later C4's 91-96 are generally way better in terms of build quality and other issues that where fixed as the car aged, than the earlier C4's. I would not rule out 91-93, these are all...

    Best Gasoline???

Some of what I am basis this on is color. Gas from Sheetz, Get Go, Kwik Fill has a yellowish hue to it. The stuff from Sunoco (as I recall) and Exxon seems to be clear. This is the color that gasoline is supposed to be. Sheetz goes thru gas like crazy and even 87 is a little off color. Runs just...

    Best Gasoline???

Ok, well I got a mixed tank of BP and Exxon. I'll run it down and fill up with Exxon and see how things go.

    Best Gasoline???

So does that mean that every Exxon station carries Top Tier fuel? I would try Shell but none near by.

    First Time Auto Cross

Just to update this. I did my 2nd auto x today and had a blast. I was terribly slow, I mean really slow. It was an airport event and very very fast one at that. I just about wiped out more than a couple times. Car is very forgiving. Long story short, my timed runs stunk to say the least, but hey...

    Best Gasoline???

I have a delima, my local Sunoco stations are no longer and my Corvette loved that fuel, ran fantastic. I got the time slips with good traps to prove it. Now I have been running BP, well, I got back to the drag strip last night and the car trapped worse than just about ever, and my launches...

    ticking noise in L98

When is last time you changed your oil? What is it's condition and level? I've seen lifter tick from just old black oil so...cover that basic first. Does it do it all the time or just hot or just cold?

    Air Conditioner Woes!

I agree, you have classic evaporator core freeze up. Check system pressures and go from there. I good set of manifold gauges usually tells all. I bet the low side is too low. I would also consider checking the orifice tube for contamination. Obviously, this requires the system to be evacuated...

    Question: Coolent for Aluminum radiator

I would use good ol' green, considering it is a 86, I assume your block and so forth is from that era as well. Just change it every 2 years or so and leave it be. :thumb

BWD or Cardone Mass Air Flow sensor

You are correct on the calibration thing. I got a Cardone for a 87 Buick GN from Advanced, did not run worth a crap. Totally wrong calibration for it. I got one from Kirban Performance that is a Cardone unit but built to Kirban Specs. runs perfect. I would get the BWD just for the fact it is...
