Question: Is there no worthwhile A/C compressor replacement?

Do you switch to 134 or do you stay with R12 refrigerant when you make the change? Local dealer wants me to change to 134. They say the clutch is slipping and want to change compressor out and convert the system to 134

    aux fan

Had a like problem with my '85. I installed a temp activated fan switch and eliminated the relays. Worked great. Looking at doing the same thing now on my '89. As far as I remember, the fans should also come on if the A/C is turned on.

    C4 The Most Maligned Model?

I've owned 2 C4's. Drove the 1984 model in 1983 when a friend had the Motor Trend test car for a photo shoot. WOW! I was totally impressed and still am. I had driven in a '67 and fell in love with Vettes then, but drove two friends '68 and later a '77 and was not impressed. Although there isn't...

    Where is the DATA Plate

Ok, I went to an NCRS judging class today and I guess I misunderstand what the data plate/tag look like on a C4. I'm use to seeing a metal plate not a sticker. That said, none on my car.;shrug

    Where is the DATA Plate

I've been asked to provide the numbers from the DATA plate for the options, but I can't find the factory plate. Where is it hidden?

    The Definitive C4 Buyer’s Guide

I've had 2 C4's and remember them being hailed by the motoring press as great leaps in technology and esthetics over past Corvettes. I had the privilege to drive the Motor Trend Car of the year test vehicle in the fall of 1983 and that sold me on how good it was. Though I have not driven a C5-C6...

Tach only works when engine above 160 deg.

My car just developed a problem with the tach reading. Until the temp gauge reads 160 or above the tach reads 0 or 7000rpm. Once the engine reaches 160 deg all is fine. Any ideas what I need to fix?
